Who hasn't received their T4?
So, question and a dilema for you guys. Today being February 29th it's the day that I was supposed to have my T4 in my hands. Plan was to enter everything into the computer, use the RRSP calculator, and get an RRSP loan for the amount of my return.
So, no T4. They were supposed to mail them to us, and after speaking to accounting I found they were put in the mail yesterday, and I "should get it next week."
I'm just wondering if this has happened to anybody else; and what you think I should do? I know I can file a complaint, but there isn't anything clear I can find and I also don't want to risk my job or my next raise because I blew the whistle on my employer.
Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure I won't be getting a T4 from a company I worked for last year. You can use your last paystub of 2007 instead.

They have until midnight tonight to MAIL them out. They do not have to be in your hands. As for filing a complain CRA will not accept them until the beginning of April at the earlies. You can try phoning CRA in a couple of weeks, but generally they're not on system until the end of April.

this is the first year in a few that i did get it in february. I have never been able to understand how they can't have them prepared in time, they know when the deadline is.

still waiting - I like to do the same, but this year had lots of RRSP room and the money to do it, so I did as much as I could pretty much guaranteeing a big return (and not paying tax).

You want to be careful with the exceeding the limit idea though...the penalties are rather stiff!
Ken, I'm going to send you a PM in case it helps you at all...but please don't publicize what I mention there!

Of course Fotze. With all of the good jokes here from you I figured it was worth the risk of breaking the tax laws! Who wouldn't though for a little "fotze" on the side!

I don't have my T4's yet, but I just realized I probably gave them the address I was living at then, which I have subsequently moved from.

I just to get pickup a form about college fund withdrawal and I can file my taxes.
Mildly tempted to go H&R so I don't have to wait forever to get my refund.

My thought: Why in the world would you want to put enough into an RRSP to eliminate the tax you owe now? Not sure if that's what you're saying but that's what it looks like.

I don't have mine either.
I used my last pay stub to figure everthing out (or close anyway), but it still burns me.
of course, in my company Feb is bonus time. Given the choice between getting my bonus out and my t4 out, I'll take the bonus.

Its not worth it. Dont go to the dark side man!
On a plus side, I havent had too many problems, my biggest problem usually lies in getting my 2202A from the University, last year they didnt have it out until almost the end of March, this year I got it yesterday.
Ken0042, you can file a complaint with a CRA ombudsman, but I wouldnt recommend it. The CRA tend to be a tad heavy-handed when they actually respond to complaints, so I'd suggest you actually just talk to your employer or payroll department and ask that they get the lead out and file them earlier.
My office issued me my T4 on Jan 5. They are really not very difficult to compile.
I wager that all this week my clients will be whining about not having their T4s sooner.
