^^ Mine does the same thing. I was going to see if it acted up again before calling it in for service.
Edit- I think this deserves its own thread.

Doesn't that mean there's an update?
EDIT: Yeah I think it means there's an update, you've got mail, or some other thing that it wants your attention for.

let people have said earlier, you have a message (unless your connect24 is off, then i don't know). the v3.2 firmware came out a couple days ago, so it was probably that

Thanks for the explanation guys. I still think I'm going to complain to Nintendo. One of my biggest pet peaves is software that thinks its the most important thing in your life.
What happens if I want to have this thing in my bedroom? I should get woken up by flashing blue lights at 2 am letting me know there's a new game available with Wii points?

It doesn't happen very often and usually just for important updates or when someone sends you a message. You can also keep it entirely off by holding the power button until the power indicator button turns red.

You can change the settings to that the glowing drive bay can be high, low, or off for notifications.

I noticed that whenever I have Mario Galaxy in while the machine is off that glowing bay thing happens. Then when I turn it on the next day the princess has sent me a postcard of her hangin out with Mario and Luigi. Very creepy.

I think if you turn off the WiiConnect24 then that won't happen.

I guess I will have to give up my favourite Wii game in that case- the "how fast can you make the world spin" game.

Ours only lights up when there is a new message on the system, either from Nintendo or from one of my friends. It doesn't glow simply because it's connected 24/7. I'm certain there are options in the menu for message notification that you can change to suit your needs.
Edit: I just downloaded the Wii Channel Guide manual from Nintendo's site. I don't recommend you do the same as it took three tries and about an hour to get the 30 MB file. Anyways, on page 60 it says you can set the blue LED to flash Bright, Dim or not at all when WiiConnect24 receives data. You can still stay connected but the blue light won't be a bother anymore.

Okay, I've got a question now...does anybody else's Wii get some screwy light on the power button? It's not red, and it's not green. It's kind of a yellowish...is that saying that the Wii is connected to the internet or what? Is something wrong with it? Or is it something completely different?

yeah mine is orange, its saying that its connected to the internet, and the blue light i think means that either you have a message or its just connected to the internet again and receiving data, and i know that you can turn the blue light off, its in the wii settings, i've turned mine off, but i turned it back on because it compliments the blue light the harmon kardon receivers have when they're on, i think the setting is called slot illumination.

someone read manuals in the first place?
Manuals are for things that can kill you or are too expensive to replace
