After a long season of dealing away a good portion of our top prospects for proven talent, the Sharks are a little light in the prospect department these days but there are still some solid names and a couple blue chippers left.
Goaltending
(1) Karri Ramo (NHL Lightning)
(2) Kyle Gajewski (OHL)
Comments: Other than Ramo there's not much to see here although Gajewski has very well this season in the OHL and may be a diamond in the rough. Ramo has been thrown into the NHL and was expected to take over starting duties in TB. He has played respectably given the team he was trying to play for and his lack of experience but with the recent aquisition of Smith in the Richards deal, he should be able to grow nicely as the backup playing 20 - 30 games a season until he's ready to be that #1 guy.
Defense
(1) Randy Jones (NHL Flyers)
(2) Jonathan Sigalet (AHL)
(3) Nigel Williams (OHL)
(4) Jonas Junland (SEL)
(5) Kirill Tulupov (QMJHL)
Comments: Randy Jones has been very impressive in the NHL this season and there are a couple top 4 potential Dmen behind him here. We've still got a solid young core on the main roster so if a couple of these guys can come though for us, we should look good on D for a long time to come.
Forwards
(1) Jakub Voracek (QMJHL)
(2) Spencer Machacek (WHL)
(3) Mikko Lehtonen (FNL)
(3) Benjamin Breault (QMJHL)
(4) John Mitchell (AHL)
(6) Jakub Klepis (AHL - Some NHL experience)
(7) Bill Thomas (AHL - Some NHL experience)
(8) Scott Tregunna (OHL)
Comments: Voracek is looking like a star player in a couple years and Machacek is having a great year in the Dub this year but beyond that there's not much to get excited about here. There may be some solid 3rd-4th line players down the road in the group and a couple guys already have some NHL experience. Again however, we've got a great core of stud forwards on the roster so if Voracek can join us in a few years, we'll be more than happy.
Other Prospects worth mentioning
Nobody...I even had to fill some of the above with guys who probably wouldn't warrant a mention on other teams.
