Rangers Prospect (quick review)
Well its that time of the year again, below is the Rangers Prospects per Postion.
Goaltending;
(1) Ondrej Pavelec (first year in AHL)
(2) Leland Irving (Junior)
(3) Tyler Plante (first year in AHL)
Comments; CPHL Rangers are happy with the current depth at the goaltending position. Ondrej is projected to be a #1 goalie in the future at the NHL level. CPHL Rangers believe all three can be future NHLers but they could be 2-3-4 years away.
Defense;
(1) Kris Letang (first year in NHL)
(2) Grant Lewis (first year in AHL)
(3) Brendan Mikkelson (first year in AHL)
(4) Jeff Woywitka (called up to the NHL)
Comments; Defense is lead by the 20 year old Kris Letang. Kris is currently playing top 4 minutes with the NHL Penguins. CPHL Rangers have other dman worth mentioning but in the 2008 draft this is one of the positions that will be addressed.
Forwards;
(1) Bobby Ryan (first year in AHL)
(2) Gilbert Brule (in the NHL)
(3) Brett Sterling (second year in AHL)
(4) Lauri Tukonen (called up to NHL)
(5) Dave Bolland (first year in NHL)
(6) Alex Bourett (second year in AHL)
Comments; Forwards are lead by Bobby Ryan; Bobby is projected to be a first liner in the NHL. CPHL Rangers are targeting this position to be further developed in the 2008 draft. Rangers would like to add another high profile prospect before the entry draft.
Other Prospects worth mentioning
(1) John Armstrong
(2) Robin Figren (solid player in the recent WJC)
(3) Lauri Korpikoski
