Default CP Future Jackets team report

Well since our team sucks today, we can always look to tommorrow.

HINFB's Organizational rating for the Columbus Blue Jackets C+
(Hockey Internet Nerd Fan Boys is doing these ratings)

Top 10 Prospects:

1.)Patrick Kane RW 8.5 A Acquired via draft via trade with San Jose
Diminutive but creative winger. Is a good skater, has good vision and playmaking skills, puck handling skills, and sound offensive instincts. Career Potential top line winger

2.)Bryan Little C 7.0 A Acquired with Slava Kozlov & Det1st (07) for Maxim Afinogenov 2007
Another smaller player with a good set of hands and the ability to make highlight reel plays. He's an energetic worker, but his size and skating are his two main drawbacks.
Career Potential second line center

3.)Benoit Pouliot LW 7.5 C Traded with Jiri Novotny for Jeff Hamilton & Daniel Carcillo

Lanky winger is a former #4 Overall pick of the Minnesota Wild. A classic case of a guy with all the tools but with a 5 cent head. Brilliant skater who reminds some scouts of Vincent LeCavalier. Not living up to his potential in his early years either, just like flipper!
Career Potential Second Line Winger or Rec League Glory Jock

4.)Jaroslav Halak G 7.0 C Traded with pick for Johan Hedberg 2007
One time 9th round pick of the Montreal Canadiens is just simply burried in the wrong organization. A reflex goalie who plays deep in his net he'll probably bolt to Europe out of frustration next year or the year after. Stupid Carey Price.
Career Potential: 1A type Platoon goalie NHL, #1 RSL goalie

5.)Steven "I wish I was Jack" Wagner D 6.5 B Traded for JS Aubin 2007
Surprised many and made the St.Louis Blues out of camp after signing as a UFA after a 3 year career in the NCAA. Solid skater with good size and puck moving ability he suits the NHL's new breed of defenceman with his combination of skating, passing, and adequate size.
Career Potential: Second Pairing Defenceman

6.)Jarred "Boll in a China Shop" 6.0 A Signed as UFA 2007
Miserable pr|ck of a player he's under the other teams skin as soon as he arrives at the rink. Energetic and shows limited offensive ability his contributions are his ability to cross the line just enough to make other teams want to draw and quarter him if they ever got their hands on him.
Career Potential: Thid line agitating winger

7.)Ryan Carter C 6.0 B Signed as a UFA in 2007
An undrafted college free agent Carter is a good skating Center with good size who shows flashes offence. A late bloomer he could put up some numbers with a bit more confidence.
Career Potential: Third line Center

8.)Jordan Hendry D 6.0 B Signed as UFA 2008
Another new age style of defenceman who combines adequate size with above average skating and puck handling skills. He's been a surprise call up for the NHL Hawks and has acquitted himself quite nicely
Career Potential: Bottom pairing defenceman

9.) Nathan Guenin D 5.5 B Signed as UFA 2007
Stay at home defender has good size and is a smart positional player in his own end. Good size and is willing to use it and compete he's developing his skills with more experience in pro hockey.
Career Potential: 6/7 defenceman

10.) Matthew Roy D 5.0 B Signed as a UFA late 2006
Big Stay at home defender who will defend his team mates, but no clue how to defend himself. He has a target right between his eye's and opponents cheap shot artists use it to line him up and ram his head into the boards at will. When he's not out with a concussion he does feature a heavy point shot.
Career Potential: Good at collecting a pro salary while on IR

Other players:

Mike Carmen C
Energy type 3rd liner playing his Sophomore year at the University of Minnesota. A two time WJC player and pick of the Avalanche in the NHL may be a 3rd/4th liner one day.

Ryan Flynn LW
Another Energy type guy from the University of Minnesota. Played in the WJC for the United States. He has good size will play for cheap and can be a bit of a jerk with will make him a good Nashville Predator some day.

Johan Harju W
A 6th round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning Harju is a big winger who moves good enough and has a big shot. The Lightning are unlikely to bring back Vinny Prospal and what the hell if he's Freddy Modin like...they might as well try him on a line with Brad Richards.

Christopher Lofberg C
A 3rd round pick of the NHL Red Wings in 2005 he's putting up good numbers in the Alsvenskan in Sweeden this year. Played in the SEL last year with limited success. But he's a Wings player from Sweeden who's only 21 right now. Maybe he'll be an NHL some day.

Denis Parshin W
A diminutive winger who plays for CSKA Moscow Parshin was a 3rd round pick of the Avs in 2004. Colorado likes their skilled players and they're not on welfare. They may look at bringing him over to North America to give him a look see. Apparently he's got speed and skill in spades....Hooraaaay for skill maybe he's another Val Bure!

Tyson Sexsmith G
Starting goalie for the WHL's Vancouver Giants wins a lot of games and doesn't allow many goals. A San Jose 3rd rounder in 2007, he might get to be the guy who farts on the bench while Nabokov plays every day.

Chris Summers D
Playing his sophomore season in the NCAA at Michigan. Team player who played for the USA at the WJC and a former 1st round pick of Phoenix #29 in 2006. May develop into a 4-6 NHL defenceman one day

Of course with 5 first round picks this year the Jackets hope to add to this mediocre collection of scrubs.

I think Ryan Carter is going to be your diamond in the rough. What is it with the Ducks and drafting all of these great college players? Their scouting staff really doesn't get enough credit.

Nice job

Nice report. Would be great to see more of these from some teams (that's not a mandatory request or anything as its a lot of work and some teams don't have any interest in prospects...cough KG cough).

But they are good reads so you have time and interest do 'er up.

Good read Syl.

The Flyers will do their best to get their prospect report up soon but with all the guys we have it will be tough to get something together anytime soon.

Not a bad group. A handful of them have been playing in the NHL already which is a huge step in developing players for our league. And having all those picks for this years draft will help a lot.

Ha ha remember that one GM who was doing ECHL team report cards and gave a team with 3 prospects an F for a grade because he didn't like any of them but gave the Bruins a D when they didn't have any.....ha ha.

Hesla's ECHL team gets a D!
