If you've got a couple extra minutes, the Schwarma King over in Kensington is excellent. I think they have falafel too.

There's a new place in Eau Claire. Minus the pickles, I enjoyed my Shawarma. Even got some potatoes with garlic sauce. mmmm

It has moved. To 17th ave, by the Pizza Hut. Why? I cannot fathom. That place was the sh*t, it was lined up out the door at lunch. Sooo good. I miss it horribly.

Dooohhhh I didn't know that! Might help to read the signage posted on the windows of the old location, you think?
Can't wait for February. Subway can suck my ass.

I'm having me a hankering for some Falafel King... does anyone know if the fabled new DT location is open yet, before I wander around all through my lunch hour looking for something that isn't there?

The King to rise again on Stephen Avenue
John Gilchrist, Calgary Herald
http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/...a-ca492cdcda13
But the King himself, Fauzi Salem, did not abdicate. The benevolent monarch didn't want his followers to be without their shawarma and falafel sandwiches for long, so he laid siege to the restaurant space at 225 Stephen Ave. S.W. (269-5464) and recently gained control.
This is the space that had most recently been Cabernet Bistro and was, for a number of years, the main Cedars outlet.
Salem is returning it to his Lebanese roots by installing five shiny new upright rotisseries and buffing up display coolers for his fattoush and tabouleh salads.
And not wishing to leave his subjects thirsty, he has upgraded his popular "Juice Kingdom" to serve a wealth of fresh fruit and vegetable juices and shakes. Salem says his food goes best with a fresh juice, and a baklava for dessert.

Hmm the article is dated Sunday and says it opens "this week"... not too far from the office so I'll go take a ganders and see I guess.
Otherwise, it's resolution time!

My face is a bum!

It's not open yet, but I saw them working on the door this morning so I could peek in, and it looks very close.

Yes, I discovered it is not yet operational during my lunch-hour odyssey that saw me proceed from Falafel King to the Wendy's in Gulf Canada Square, only to be turned down there as well because allegedly their grill was not "working" (odd to walk up to a burger joint and be greeted by a sign that says "No Burgers!") So I settled on a buffalo-chicken pita from Extreme Pita which actually was pretty awesome, they load it up for you and it pretty much falls apart as you eat it, which to me is a sign of quality.
The End.
