Default Post Your "My Games" Folder

Well, let's see what everybody is playing (I know most people's games folder is your desktop so basically whatever you have where all your games reside). Maybe it'll give others an idea of new games to try out. Note Trilby's Notes and 7 Days a Skeptic, parts 2 and 3 of Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw's (of Zero Punctuation fame) Chzo Mythos adventure game series.

Personally I feel there is a severe drought in PC gaming, I've played everything in this folder to death and I am bored as heck. The only thing that is justifying my 8800GT is that I can use some insane mods on Oblivion which has near endless play value but sadly there's nothing on the horizon that I'm looking forward to. There's no more variety. I want a decent space sim, an adventure game, I want an adventure comedy game, I want a game that really takes me to new worlds instead of marooning me on earth...There's not much variety in PC gaming anymore. It's quite depressing when you goto the reviews or previews for PC at IGN or Gamespot.

My Games Folder:
- World of Warcraft
- Steam
- Halflife2
- Oblivion

I play one of those four. In fact, I doubt I've loaded anything else but WoW in last year. Most of my game time is now spent on my Wii60.

A decent space sim was last released with Freespace2. You may want to look into a game called Nexus. Tough to find but way cool to play. Like Homeworld2 but better.

Beyond MMO's, I think most of the PC Games market is dying. I read this article with a sense of depression when I realized that my own gaming habits verified the trend.

RomeTotalWar - Barbarian Invasion
Civilizations4 - Beyond the Sword
SimCity4 - Rush Hour

I am thinking on pulling the trigger on the new Pirates MMO.

Is that Pirates MMO based on the Sid Meier game?

From what I can tell it is, but I dont know if there is any affiliation with them at all.

I know a few people who are playing it and have seen it be played and it looks very interesting. I am not someone who can invest alot of time (maybe 16 hours a week max) in MMO's so this would be my first dive into that format.

Hey H&L, that HomeWorld 2, is that like Cataclysm? That was a fanstatic space sim, if there is a newer version out, I would love to try it.

My games:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadows of Chernobyl
HL2
WoW
Company of Heroes
BF2 - With PRMM
Oblivion
And an assortment of Steam Demos.

I just picked up the 8800 GTS yesterday (upgrade from Radeon X700) So I finnaly got to try out the Bioshock and Quake Wars Demo. Wow, my vid card was indeed the bottleneck of my systme. ATI drivers were plauging my system and works oh so much better now.

H&L, which servers do you play on for COD4?

How do you like Rainbox Six Vegas and MOH:Airborne?

My games:

Call of Duty2
Call of Duty4 (pretty much all my gaming is spent on this game).
NHL08
Sim City 4: Rush Hour (hardly play though)

I recently gave up playing Medal of Honor: Spearhead as all the clans with whom I played have moved onto COD4.

I love all games, especially vintage ones... I finished the original Final Fantasy 2 last summer for the NES! Others I've played recently:

Original Resident Evil
Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
FEAR
Quake 4
STALKER
Call of Juarez
Silent Hill 1 & 2
Civilization 4

Have COD4 & Bioshock which I intend on playing when I get the time...

Cataclysm was the expansion to Homeworld and Homeworld 2 was the sequel that came out a few years after and I think it's much better than Homeworld or Cataclysm. It's a bit dated now but amazing fun if you can find some friends who play it and you can really have some genuinely strategic space battles.

I don't really play these games online because I play them more for single player story. Rainbox Six Vegas isn't for pure R6 fans, it's much more arcade like but it is still complicated and you can do great tactical things in the game. The best fun for it is playing through the single player story in co-op mode with a friend or two and it's like you are the squad. Not many games have able co-op like this.

Medal of Honor Airborne is like the WWII Call of Duty games but much, much, much better and without all the silly endless respawning enemies, etc. It's a much nicer WWII FPS where all the missions, you parachute in and therefore you manually control where you want to land and it affects how the mission goes. The graphics are pretty amazing and the gameplay can be intense with an interesting ducking/cover/firing system.

I used to play Battlefield 2 and Counterstrike online back in the day but I really grew tired of it all, if I play anything online, it's for co-op story or for objectives (like capturing points in TFC). That's why I think the new Unreal is terrible because it doesn't have Assault mode.

bump

i'm looking for a new game, i really loved diablo & dungeon seige, so i guess i'm looking for a game in the rpg/action rpg genre

ive tried out marvel ultimate alliance & neverwinter nights 2

MUA is okay, the camera drives me nuts sometimes, and its not quite the experience i am looking for (picking up equipment, etc)

NWN2 is boring thus far and the attacks are way way way too slow

and i will not get into WoW

any recommendations?

TF2 and WoW are the only two PC games I play at the moment even though I have a ton.

As an aside though, that article excludes all digital distribution methods. This means no Steam (HL, HL2, CS, Orange Box), no WoW downloads, none of the EQ2 expansions. I wonder how the numbers would look if it was included, as PC is the only platform with full games that can be purchased online. Competing with the Wii, DS, PS3/Xbox360, and perhaps 14% is merely "average" instead of "dying".
