Thrashers join the party, make a deal with the Flyers
Atlanta and Philadelphia made a deal Sunday evening that breaks down into the following:
To Philadelphia:
LW Steve Ott (69 ov) - making 1.8 M (RFA in July)
prospect Matt Halischuk
To Atlanta:
LW Peter Schaefer (75 ov) - making 1.95 M (UFA in July)
Cash (100 K)
GM Sutaria had the following to say:
This deal helps our depth up front. Steve is a good player but was playing on our 4th line so we feel he was expendable this year. We felt we upgraded this year in adding Peter Schaefer to our team. We feel we improved our lineup for this season with this deal by adding this 75 ov player. In addition to Ott, Philly got a prospect in Halischuk who is a few years away from making it but played very well in the WJC for Canada this year and is in a good system in the NHL with the Devils. Best of luck to both of those guys in Philly. Thanks to Mooney for the pretty straight forward talks.
