I hope his show does not get watered down to become the lame lowest common denominator comedy Leno is providing.

I hope they don't make him tame things down though. That would suck.
Conan is definitely the funniest late night guy. It's one of the only TV shows I actually watch.

I love Leno!! When I get a chance to watch him. Which isn't much.
Amazing guy who basically "works" 365 days a year. On his days off, he tours.
He's a guy who would probably freak out in retirement.

It could be an unfortunate side-effect of taking over the Tonight Show demographic. But really, a toned-down Conan beats out lame-boy Jay any night of the week.

CBS better reconsider what it is going to do now, because if Letterman is still around Conan is going to blast him out of the water in Ratings.

Yeah.
"Will it Float" just isn't funny any more. Whatever happened to Letterman? He used to funny.

That's what I watch. The opening stand-up on his show. Then I'm off channel surfing.

Conan rules!! I sincerly hope that he doesn't lose the I-don't-give-a-crap-it's-12:30-and-no-one's-watching mentality that happened to Letterman. That's what makes Late Night so damn funny. Conan's comedy pieces and skits are the funniest on TV, by far.. (That Triumph piece on Star Wars nerds in line is a CLASSIC).
I wonder if they would keep Conan in NY or would they move him back to LA? (he's lived there before I think)
His Tiger Woods interview wasn't that good though. Should have let Tiger talk more.

Unless it is a guest I really enjoy hearing speak I would rather Conan take over most interviews. The best interviews are where the guest and Conan have a good banter going back and fourth. Although their are exceptions, Norm McDonald's long drawn out stories about nothing are always hilarious.

The announcement solves a delicate problem for NBC, which realized O'Brien was getting antsy in his Late Night time slot

Geez you think? He's been hinting at it for quite a while now. Everyone probably though his jokes about his show being after Leno were just jokes... but they were probably serious..

While this means that I might actually start watching the Tonight Show again in 2009 (Leno's monologues are way too painful for me to watch because of their pedestrian nature, constant dumbing down of topics and mostly fat, old white guy humour) I don't think it will mean that Conan O'Brien will simply be hosting his show an hour earlier.
I just can't see NBC agreeing to let him go full blast with the hemmoroid jokes, gay innuendo and nearly naked appearances of Will Ferrell.
To sum things up, it will be better than the Tonight Show is now but not as good as Late Night with Conan O'Brien can be.

Time will tell. Conan pretty much has them by the balls right now, he knows he is taking over and it will be his way or the highway.

I assume Conan is moving to LA. I think somehow the show would be more "edgy" if it remained in New York.
I hope this is the end of lame Leno spots like "Jaywalking" and "Headlines".
Will the average American appreciate the Masturbating Bear, Camel Toe Sally, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, In the Year 2000, etc?

i think leno himself is a funny guy but the scripted, dead interviews and the nightly requirement for a michael jackson joke wear very thin with me.
if conan goes down the watered-down route i will be very sad.
something tells me we won't see a masturbating bear on the tonite show!
