Default CP book club march meeting

So the first meeting of the CP book club was a tremendous success, what with all the hookers and blow and such. Some good discussion about the book and some thoughtful discussion about rollercoasters and such.

We're now looking toward a meeting sometime in March. As far as dates, Flames home game dates are out. The superstitious might suggest that Flames road game dates should also be out too, based on Friday's results. If we meet in mid march, some possible dates would be around the weekend of the 15th: either on Saturday during the day or early evening, or Sunday before or after the Flames road game in Chicago.

As far as books to read for the next meeting, we'll do a quick vote. I'll suggest a couple titles, and Firefly, Jammies, and anyone else who's interested can suggest something as well.

As well, if we have enough people, we can possibly get books at a discount. My wife and I own a bookstore that specializes in arts and design books, but we have contacts with most book distributors, so depending on the title, we could order it in for CP book club members at a 25% discount. Let me know if this is interesting to people. (Downside is that there will be a delay before getting the books in, so it might be better to look at for future months).

I'll give my suggestions in another post.

Discount books are great! If that's an option but it might take time to order them, why don't we pick out our next two or three books now? I have some suggestions that I would like to see for the next book that I think everyone on CP might enjoy, which are books the majority of you all wouldn't read cause they're "girly", but I think if you look at them in a different light, you might come to appreciate them more. I don't want to go into the books too much though, so I'll give you my choices.

The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.

Don't think of it as a love story, think of it as a book on time travel. Think about the consequences of the actions of time travel... Fabulous story, beautifully written.

Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings by Christopher Moore.

I wouldn't even know where to start with this book. It's just an experience I think everyone should go on. This is the same author who wrote Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal, which is one of my favorites. And I'd also recommend that one to anyone who wants to read it, and that comes from a self proclaimed Christian... it's funny. However, due to it's nature... religion can be touchy. Besides, Fluke has religious undertones too. Anyway, it's funny, and an experience. Actually, now that I think about it, it really isn't a girly novel at all. However it is still a rather light book for reading.

So those are my choices. I might add some later.
