Streaming Video Problems: What are all these green squares?

Does anyone else get this problem when streaming video? At parts the vid looks ok and other times the green squares completely disrupt the picture without affecting the sound. It only happens when streaming with windows media player... any suggestions? Could it be a new codec I don't have?

First guess without seeing the problem is codec, followed closely by lost packets in streaming. Does the problem occur when you just download the file in full and watch it in WMP? Have you tried another player? If you don't have one, you could try VLC.

If the problem occurs while streaming and while watching a video that you have previously downloaded to your machine, and the problem seems to be happening at the same places, then the file is probably corrupt or there is a codec problem.

If you can't download it, you might try letting it buffer a bunch before playing it, although I can't imagine it helping much at all.

Those are usually lost packets, or sometimes excessive compression of the source material. sometimes allowing it to buffer a bit more helps (sometimes on youtube I'll pause the video until I see the video is loaded).
