The news report is kind of confusing. The lead says 11 people were shot, but when it details the incidents it says 10 of them were shot "at" and only one was actually shot, according to the language in the story. Kind of confusing.
I didn't find it confusing, though the way the text is set up on the page maybe you didn't see the next lines?

I see what your mean ... I read so much text in a day (part of my job) that I'm guilty of skim reading, which does decrease comprehension at times. On the other hand, if I didn't skim read I'd never get through everything ... kind of a Catch 22.
