I may have been surfing CP during Poli 310 :P

Notes? Well, that's a problem. Bought a laptop for taking notes, ended up surfing in most of my classes, and I've been working part-time and really busy too. I think I'm as dead as you are for the take-home exams. I'm just finishing reading Machiavelli, Confucius, and Augustine now, after starting them on the weekend.

377, I've really been slacking. Haven't gone there since we handed in the paper. But it's American Politics, the final is 2 weeks away, and there is information on American politics up the wazoo from anywhere you look so I'm not too worried about notes for that class.

I'm in POLI 310 and POLI 359. In 310 today someone had a laptop, but I have no idea if they were surfing this site or not. 359 prof seems to know his stuff alright but has trouble dictating it as there is nary a point to be found in his lectures. So I rarely go to that class.

Uh so... where are we exactly in POLI 310? I may have missed the odd class here and there, heheh, so i'm in the same boat as you guys when it comes to notes. Basically, from what I gather we have just covered Machiavelli since our first test, but i'm not totally sure. Somewhat suprising considering our essay is supposed to incorporate guys like Hobbes and Locke, who we haven't studied yet. Maybe that's for part 2 in April though...

EDIT: Doh. Upon further inspection I realized there were 2 POLI 310 lectures, and not just one. Anyways, im in the MWF one.

How is the U of C Polisci department? I am finishing up my major in polisci at UBC and the department is quite excellent.

I never took polisci when I was at U of C so I don't know.

It's not bad. I've taken 6 actual Poli Sci classes and it's sort of hit and miss. I've had a few really good profs and classes (279, 310 & 371) and then some classes where i'm either being spoon fed notes I can get directly off the internet (321) or where the professor kind of rambles on and never makes a point (359). But overall i'd say it's pretty decent...

Im in my last year of Poli at the U of C.......It's not that bad, but not the best obviously. Too much focus on history thought and not enough ample discussion time. I'm in my 400 and 500 level's now, and its' starting to feel alot better.

BTW, anyone in POLI 597.06 next semester? International Terrorism is the topic, and it's going to be hella-fun =)

Who is teaching the 597 class? I am not taking it i am just curious....

Over all i like poli-sci at the U of C, while there are a few bad profs there a number of amazing ones that more then make for it....

I am in the T/R 310 class, and i think the prof is HORRIBLE, thank god we get Wilson for the second half of the year.... Wilson is the biggest ****** ever but he is a good prof if you can stand his attitude.... Froese(?) is so inprecise and she never makes a point, any point, she just asks the same 2 or 3 annoying people in class what they think and then moves on without having actually said anything...

For 359 and 377 i have Baron and he is wicked, all you need are the words (and people) he writes on the board and his definition of them and you are set! Problem is i don't have the last 4 classes worth of words. I am more concerned about 359 then 377, he seems to teach it a little.... tighter then 377, where it is more wide open....

Oh, I see. The prof I have for 310 in MWF (Allison Dube) is probably the best prof. i've had in my 1 and a half years at the UofC. Gives you good notes, is actually quite funny and gives you the odd 'now... you guys might really want to study this part here... it might show up on the next test' now and then, at which point you know you've been given freebie marks on the next test.

Curses though, woulda been nice to have someone to share notes with...

That p*sses me off to no end! I would have loved to have a decent prof, i mean this class IS a full credit, right?

I took 310 last year but had some major health problems (Had both my feet operated on, may have seen me limping around at school or at Flames games, not that you'd remember or anything... lol... ) and had to drop it. I had Len Wilson, and while he is total ****** (x10) at least he was a good lecturer. So obviously i resign up this year and get someone even worse, in a class i REALLY just want to get over with....

Oh well...

Wonder who is taking what next semester? I don't even know myself... i will go look into it...
