Default Dipietro comes to Duckville!

In a deal that didn't take very long to make, the Ducks and Caps have traded goalies and Dmen in a large deal. Here is how it breaks down:

To the Ducks:
Rick Dipietro
Duncan Keith

To the Caps:
Ryan Miller
Tony Loodman
Dane Byers

This move was made to get a bit younger while at the same time getting guys who will help next year. Keith is playing 29-30 minutes a game in the NHL over the last while and just recently attended his first ever all star game. Loodman is a good veteran Dman who should help Hesla in his push in the playoffs. Similarly, Dipietro and Miller we view as comparables, Dipietro is having a slightly better NHL year but both are young stud goalies and the idea is that Miller will provide the Caps with the shakeup they need to get on a big winning streak.

We are also excited at Keiths 1.75mill contract next year, should be a bargain price if he continues to play as well as he does.

Thanks to Hesla for the easy and fun negotiations! Hopefully this move works out well for both teams and the Caps get things going again.

I like this deal for Anaheim. DiPietro and Miller are pretty close in terms of goaltending. Keith is an exceptional young defenseman and should go to 77 as early as next season and is very young.

I also like the deal for the Ducks. Pretty even though.

Well I give Aaron credit for having the guts to make the trade. It makes him better today, but no doubt he probably knows Keith was a pretty good piece to trade. But hey, when you have a chance to do something try to make something of it. Don't underestimate Dane Byers....he's a huge and highly overlooked piece in this deal. Actually I have no idea who he is..did he really tip the scales in this deal?

I like it for the Ducks as well. To me the goalies are literally dead even. Same rating, age, performance in the sim this season, and performance in the NHL. They have identical win-loss records and save % in the NHL. So basically Keith for Lydman and Byers is the deal and to me that swap favors the Ducks.

Wow, big deals all around today! I have to agree with Chris on this one though, goalies are too close to be worth Keith for Lydman and Byers but it's not very far off at all. Interesting deal that is pretty close to exactly even, nicely done!

Very tough deal to make.....

The Caps needed a shakeup..... Dipietro was not getting the job done.

Losing Keith hurts.... but lydman is signed for 3 years and is solid all around...

Dan byers was a throw in, put a personal fave of this GM.
