TSN to cover 121 races in 2008

I have always been a big fan of F1. The great locations, the tracks, the cars, the technology, the drivers -- All very interesting. But the lack of true competition, plus odd timing of the races and many other problems have reduced the amount of interest I have.

IRL lost me a long time ago when they screwed up the Indianapolis 500.

That, seemingly like many others. led me to give NASCAR a look. I'm watching more and more of these races and gradually getting to know more and more about various tracks, teams, drivers etc.

Any other race fans out there who have found that NASCAR is attracting more of their interest?

I lost interest in the entire sport when Greg Moore died.

Even then, I never cared for the parade that is F1, and Nascar is really exciting only for the great crashes.

I don't mind watching Nascar. At least there are lead changes and you usually don't know who is going to win until the last few laps.

I lost touch with F1 when one team would dominate. It wasn't a surprise if they won, only if they didn't. It seemed to be more about the cars than the drivers.

Yes, in any series the car is vital, but in F1 for a while it seemed like if you picked the driver's name from a hat and put him in the car, he would win.

and the IRL/CART split really soured me on the whole NA open wheel series.

I lived in the Southern U.S. for a few years and became hooked on NASCAR. Since then, my interest has waned a bit.

The season is too long, and the large conglomeration teams are making it more difficult for the one and even two car teams to be successful.

The IRL/CART split lost me, and I have a tad bit of interest in F1, due to an old Finnish roomie in college.

If you have not been to a NASCAR race, I highly suggest it. It is a very intense experience. The speed, noise, and 100k+ and sometimes 200k people are a sight to see. Other than a PGA Major Championship, it is the most pressure packed event I have ever personally attended.

That to many is the appeal of F1.
The whole serires is based on the technology of the cars, and that's what makes it really cool.
Yes it can get a little boring when Ferrari wins 3/4 of the races, but what they can do with those cars can be absolutely amazing.

No doubt the cars are amazing. The technology is astounding. But it makes for a boring race.

It would probably be much different seeing it live where you can get a sense of the speed, but on TV it becomes how much will the winner win by.

I live in Montreal and became a fan of F1 when I went to a race. It was a very cool experience. The races outside North America are difficult to follow because of the time difference, so I mostly check results online.

I missed out on an opportunity to see a F1 race when I lived in China. But it was expensive and a longer trip than my alternative. That was to go see Real Madrid for a second time. Very much enjoyed seeing Real both times but would have been great to see a live F1 race.

Totally agree. I use to turn on racing on the weekend when I wanted to take a nap.
