Default Why don't they build in more power jacks in homes?

Seriously.. I know you can buy a power bar, or a 3 plug "hub" but why not just built it into the house?

Just one of those small things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmm....

Why do people say my alarm is going off, when really it’s turning on?

It probably has to do with electrical codes and circuit loading.

Because it is extra money. You can get more built in, speak to your builder at the construction stage.

It doesn't take much knowledge or know how to put a few in yourself. I'm no electrician but I learned very quickly what to do and how.

Depends when your house was built. Older houses are often short on receptacles due to the fact they didn't have as much crap to plug in back in the day. Same goes with switch placement, three way switches...

If its a new house then its like another poster said. Adding circuits and receptacles is simple during the building stage, just a matter of dealing with your contractors and spending the dough.

By code you are only allowed so many plugs on a circuit; it's either 10 or 12. Then factor in a bedroom where you need an Arc Fault breaker, so if the builder can get away with 1 circuit for a 3 bedroom house that saves money.

When I did my own wiring I made sure there were ample plugs; including in the garage where there's a plug every 4 feet; and every other plug is on a seperate circuit so I can plug in two tools beside each other. Cost me extra but it sure is handy. Electrical inspector for the city was impressed too.

Yep, that is so the way to go in rooms where you will be running hi draw equipment. I also make sure there are plenty of plugs in tv rooms or offices.
