Default Assassination of Jesse James

Just wanted to offer a quick recommendation for this movie. I rented it yesterday, watched it today, and will buy it tomorrow. I absolutely loved it. Anyone else here see it? It didn't do all that well in the box office it seems, but it might not have ever seen a wide release. Regardless, I think you should go and at the very least, rent this movie.

I've always wanted to see the Alberta locations in this movie.

No way I would have known it was filmed here had I seen the movie withouut that info. Truthfully though, that knowledge made me want to see the movie, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the movie is.

My girlfriend was an extra in it so we all went to see it the day it came out.

Really good movie.

Yeah, pretty good movie. Casey Affleck is fantastic in it, and should win an Oscar. I enjoyed the Nick Cave cameo and soundtrack.

Has anyone seen 3:10 To Yuma? Russell Crowe's character is very similar to Brad Pitt's Jesse James, it's quite interesting.

3:10 to Yuma is very well done. Bale's character is well done too.

I haven't seen Jesse James yet, but given my sister worked on it, I've heard a ton about it. I'll probably pick it up soon.

Jesse James is a distant relative of mine. Interesting film to see for that, my appreciation of Brad Pitt as an actor, my affinity for Westerns (good ones) and the fact that all of this took place in the area Brad Pitt grew up in. Interesting dynamic.

3:10 to Yuma was very good. Bale was outstanding.

I think Jesse James surpassed Yuma for me tonight, but Yuma is still outstanding. So many great movies last year.

I think the reason this movie did poorly at the box office is because people were expecting to see a story about Jesse James' exploits rather than an introspective look at the man who kills him. Yes this movie is slow paced but Casey Affleck's performance is great. The fact that it was shot here in Alberta is icing on the cake for those of us who live in this great, picturesque province.

Ya it was a decent movie. My only prob with it is we saw a 10:20pm showing of it, not realizing how long it was, and were exhausted to begin with, so it was really tough keeping my eyes open for alot of it considering how slowly it moves. I agree Casey Affleck was simply outstanding.

Speaking of Casey Affleck, you guys should check out Gone, Baby Gone. It comes out on DVD next week. Another amazing movie.

Agreed. That was a great movie. A lot of interesting debate was sparked by that movie.

Casey Affleck is choosing some good material lately.

They filmed a scene up the road from my parents place. I'm curious to see which scene it was.

My parents went to see it and hated it. Which means I'll probably love it. Looking forward to seeing it very soon.

3:10 was terrific. Ben Foster stole the show I thought. Bale and Crowe were great as usual. Heck, even Steve the Pirate from Dodgeball gave a good performance.

I used to work with a friend who is, I think, a messenger or something in the film.

Guess I'll have to go see it.

That he did. Slightly off topic but have you seen him in Firefly?

I haven't, I watch very little TV unless it's sports or a movie, Firefly is on my rather large list of things I'd like to see.

3:10 was a really wicked movie. I've never been one for westerns but that one was really entertaining. Gotta love Steve the Pirate.

The kid drove me nuts though. If I were Bale's character I'd have taken off my fake leg and beaten some obedience into that boy with it.

"Pa says stay home, so unless you're keen on picking splinters from my wooden leg outta your ass I suggest you do as Pa says!!!"

I'm looking forward to watching the Jesse James movie now.
