Buildings in East Village to get Historic status

For a city that in the past would just tear down any old buildings this is good news.

3 buildings up for it now - The St. Louis hotel, Simmons warehouse, and the Hillier Block.

And also interesting that the city will strive to get it for the King Eddie. I thought this was surprising becuase of how bad shape that building is in - black mold on an entire floor and what not.

But great news - the Eddie happens to be the first bar I ever went too.

according to the article, all the buildings are owned by the city. Wonder if city council would have the guts to do this if it were privately owned
