Default Anyone try hydropowersaver.com

http://hydropowersaver.com

The PowerSaver (Power Saver) is a device help to stabilize voltages and reduce currents in your power supplies. It enhance power efficiency of electrical appliances, avoid wastage of the electricity supplies and help to extend the life span of your electrical appliances.

The device costs $180 dollars, you can save 30% from your bill.

Has anyone tried this?

I got a phone call from their sales rep, doesnt look that bad with its 90 day money back warranty.

I highly doubt it does what it says. Sounds like it just limits voltage to try to "correct" our hugely varying voltage... haha... My UPS monitors the line and mine stays steady. Not sure how this could even decrease current in the appliance when they say themselves it increases as they get older. Running appliances on a lower voltage than normal probably? Not good for life. I know pretty much squat about electricity, but I'd be highly suspicious of this.

Love the cheap template they pass off as a website too.

But hey...it's GERMAN technology!!

Sounds like snake oil to me too. If it was legit, I'm sure everyone from Al Gore to David Suzuki would be singing it's praises by now.

Da Chief's post looks suspiciously like drive-by advertising to me.

ok...Physics lesson: When you have motorized appliances (washer, dryer, fridge etc.) they tend to be inductive (drawing varying current). This can be "neutralized" by applying a capacitive across your power meter (this is what this product offers). I am not sure about the cost reduction aspect though. In North America we do not get charged for having highly inductive loads (abusing the power grid), whereas in Europe they pay a lot extra for having inductive loads.

Now that you are totally confused...Summary says that I am not sure about the money savings, but its definitely nicer on your power company for you to have this product.
