if austin got that job, wow, OC for and SEC team. nice.
EDIT: Especially considering that whoever the OC is will be working with a talented young QB in Jevan Snead, a transfer from texas.

Had an idea!

Did you see the comments on the bottom of the TSN article?
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
"He HATES US!!!!"
Rob Kerr was saying its hilarious watching Rider fans implode. Apparently they do it almost as good as Oiler fans.

Ole Miss could sure use some good coaches...
The Grove is still one of the coolest things in football.

Give me a break - 99% of Rider fans are nowhere's near imploding. He's in tough - there's 7 candidates and he's the only one without NCAA coaching experience. And if he gets it, good for him - that is a big accomplishment. As Tillman says, you hire good people and other teams are going to want them.

Rumour has it this morning that Austin has been offered the job at Ole Miss. Big blow to the Riders if he takes it but good for Austin if he gets it. Riders are also talking extension with more $$$ for Austin but at this point, it looks like Austin is heading south. Bad news for the Riders - good news for the other CFL teams...

Apparently, the Riders have called a presser at noon to announce it. As a Rider fan, very disappointing but life goes on. I imagine Ritchie Hall will be the new HC of the Riders.

Bad for the CFL to lose a good coach like Kent. It was nice to have some new blood instead of using the same old coaches. Would be nice if Hall got the HC job, he deserves it and it's better than bringing in some other rehashed CFL coach.
That being said, Go Stamps Go. Can't wait for the season to start.

As a Stamp fan I am disappointed as well.
Austin had a decent season but I don't see what he did as a coach that was so great. He didn't force Wally to play his 3 worst QB for a half and then go to the guy who hadn't played in about 700 games and had a bad head while having a very good option in Pierce on the bench. Austin didn't break Kevin Glenn's arm forcing Dinwiddie to play and throw the GC away.
Austin could be horrible for the next five years and the Riders wouldn't can him since he won them the GC.
Austin seems like a good guy other than being a former Rider, so hopefully he does well down in Mississippi.

Well, I will disagree with you in that I think Austin is a very good coach. From a league standpoint, I'm disappointed we didn't get to see 3 very, very good coaches in Austin, Buono and Hufnagel square off against each other in the West this year. Had the makings for some awesome football games. Hopefully Austin's replacement is of high quality as well - and we'll watch the Eskimos win 4 games all year with Danny Cantcoachya...

I would think the natural replacement will be Richie Hall?

ET said he was going to look at all options internal and external. So Hall will be on the list along with Higgins maybe, perhaps Dave Ritchie or maybe Cortez, if he wants to move to a HC position. Would be bad for Calgary if Cortez left.

Interesting thought on Cortez - he may definately be a candidate. I know Tillman and Ritchie are good friends but not sure how interested Ritchie would be as I believe he is retired now. No mention of Higgins as a candidate (yet) but I still think Hall is the front runner right now.

Kind a sucks for them since this came out of the blue. Calgary knew all along what they were doing with HC and most teams know that they have to find a new coach right after the season is over in November. The Riders essentially lost 2 months right here.
The Huff is working away in Calgary with his staff while the Riders are now scrambling. Training camp is really only 4 months away...not a lot of time. The season will soon be upon us!
