Default Customers aren't always right... well, at Tim Horton's anyway...

Looks like Tim Horton's is getting some national attention (even up on Fark.com) about a group on Facebook with over 80 rules on how to order properly.

Quote:
When you want a coffee with NO sugar, DO NOT say no sugar it sounds like your saying “one sugar”

Stop telling us to “stir it well” there is no button on the cash register for that.

when you drive up to the speaker box have your order ready, we don’t carry “Give me a seconds” or “Hold ons”

LOL. Maybe there should be a rule:

When finished pouring coffee, please, at all costs, do not put the lid back on properly so it can spill all over the customer. Follow this procedure for every cup you pour.

Here is the article:

Quote:
There seems to be more than coffee brewing at Tim Hortons.
Frustrated employees have banded together on the popular social networking site Facebook to give cranky customers the basic rules on how to order their daily fix if they want to get good service.
A trip to Tim Hortons is part of the daily routine for many Canadians, but it doesn't necessarily seem to be the warm and fuzzy experience the commercials make them out to be for people on both sides of the counter.

http://www.canada.com/topics/technol...6-5a5bfd1875d3

And a link to the actual group that could get them into trouble.

On a side note, I'm glad these folks are making my food/coffee

I'm at the point now where if I am ordering more than two coffees I pretty much need to wrtie the order down so they can study it for a good ten minutes and get the order right. Bunch of rocket scientists.

The Tims drive thru is brutal though. People need so badly to have a list of do's and don'ts. I can't stand people who don't pull ahead far enough, or order 1/2 a menu in the drive-thru.

I know that the menu is full of sandwiches, wraps and whatever else. But honestly...if your order is that difficult you should be going into the store. The drive thru is for small, quick orders. Its common sense!

On topic though...this is a bad idea for these employees. How long until this gets ripped down?

You know...this is the final straw. Just received a coffee maker and I am going to begin brewing my own coffee. I only started drinking coffee a year ago after moving further from the city. Now I get a coffee every weekday morning at 6 a.m. when the local drive-through opens. Often the first in line.

A few weeks ago, I was raving about the crew there...in a whole year they never once screwed up my order and were always very friendly. Over the past few weeks, they have some new staff, they're always in-fighting and snapping at each other and they have gotten my order wrong a number of times.

These pictures and comments are enough to drive me to make my own damned coffee.

The Tim Horton's I frequent has some of the best staff of any I've been to, and without question some of the worst. I absolutely REFUSE to tip there, as I know the tips are pooled amongst staff. However at Christmas I gave all the best employees (4 of them) a Christmas card with a $10 gift certificate to the NSLC, and a thank you note for always remember my order and making it properly (coffee, black).

Bitch all you want about the bad employees, but remember to thank the good ones.

I hate that slogan! Customers are not always right, but they seem to think they are. I use to love when customer would pull that beauty out on me, I would tell them that is McDonalds moto not ours!

I used to work at Tim Hortons... during busy hours, there may be wrong orders, especially with an inexperienced crew.

The fact is, there are some really good customers that are patient, and I really do appreciate them, then there are those customers we don't like, they wanted it stirred well, so I'm stirring it well for them, but at least give me an extra second or 2 to put the spoon in and stir it before u start yelling at me to give u ur coffee.

But there is a difference between the customer is right and the customer has an unreasonable request. And most people don't seem to know the difference and I wouldn't be suprised if I was one of them sometimes.

I have to sympathize with the staff at Tim's. I grab my morning coffee with some coworkers at the Tim's in Bow Valley Square, and there's always 50-100 people in line, yet for the most part we never have to wait more than 10 minutes. I read their list of instructions for customers and my reaction was "good for them for trying to make the process go more smoothly, now if only people would listen".

They need to have a coffee express line where all you can order is coffee, no BS other crap that holds the line up for ever.

And you also know what grinds my gears: People who use the drive through to order 14 dozen donuts, 8 sandwhich's, 4 bowls of soup and 300 tim bits.

If you are going to order a whole s**t load of stuff. GO INSIDE.

Maybe if people just ordered a regular...black....coffee, this wouldn't be an issue.

I've always wondered at what point did people discovered they needed a large double double no-fat whipped cream soy triple shot shaken-not-stirred sans mocha-frapa-cappacuino with two sugar cubes, a shot of triple-double-single vanilla espresso and ginger / ginseng root... Oh, but hold back on the brown sugar; I don't want to make this complicated.

What's wrong with ordering 14 dozen donuts, 8 sandwhich's, 4 bowls of soap and 300 tim bits through the drive-thru? I don't want to get out of my car to get them so give me a break....

Your probably the kind of person who goes to a full service gas station when it is -40C, leaves the car running so the gas jockey gets smoked out because of the fumes, rolls down the window about 1/4 of an inch, asks to put 5 bucks in the tank, check the oil, transmission fluid, air in the tires, fill the washer fluid....pays with a credit card and makes the guy go inside to process the payment and then when he comes out you roll down the window another 1/4 of an inch so he can barely get the credit card and pen through the window and once you have signed the slip you don't even leave a tip.

We'd have to run to like a shoppers or something to get u 4 bowls of soap, it'd take long.

Joking aside... yes there is something wrong with that. The Tims drive thru line up get so damn long is because of people like you who refuse to leave their car because you don't want to or because its cold or because its this and that. Its the selfish people who always think about themselves and not about the people behind them that just want something quick and be well on their way. Honestly, if everyone does what they want to, the world would be an f-ing disaster, think about that!

If you go drive through, please, only drinks and a few easy to make/grab items please, it makes everything go SO MUCH faster. If you have a big order like that leave your car for a bit, go inside and order it and if you need help carrying it out ask, more often than not, someone behind the counter will be able to help.

There's non-busy hours at Timmy's?? Even at 2am there I've had to wait in line before.

A non-busy hour is when there's 10 people or less in a line up...
