Default Kill the "creating snow" bit guys

It is killing my CPU. Running full processor just on this site. This is a bit older machine, but still, not good.

Merry Xmas all, thanks for your hard work. Will be back when I can view CP properly again.

Haha, what!? You have to be joking me. If your computer seriously can't run this simplest plugin then it is really time to upgrade.

Actually dude, on my gaming rig which is super hot it is taking up 25-30% of the CPU.

Thanks for your input.

I realize it takes up some resources, but I thought just for a day for Christmas it wouldn't be too much of a problem. I didn't think anyone would complain as it's fun and it's not like it'll be there for long.

You could either use Adblock to block the snowstorm.js file, or I put up a link to click that will stop the snowing on the top right.

Hmm... Stop Snowing loses its a effect every time you open a new tab. I'd really appreciate fixing that if its not too hard.

Unfortunately I can't, the software doesn't keep track of the state across reloads.. I'd have to program it to make a cookie or something, and I like you guys but not enough to program on Christmas day

I'll owe you the 4 cents the extra electricity costs

EDIT: The best thing after that would be to use Adblock on Firefox and block the snowstorm.js file (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/script/snowstorm.js)

Thanks Photon. The snow thing is blocked... although I'm using AdBlock Plus. Is the old Adblock better?

Didn't mean to ruffle feathers Photon. Just woke up to a PC that was pretty much locked (didn't close CP last night).

I don't usually surf on my gaming machine, do that on my older one so if anything nasty hits, it isn't a problem. With a high speed PC, yes, the effects are cool. But lots of folks don't have one...

Anyhoo, again Merry Xmas all.

Not sure actually, I've always meant to get the plus one but never got around to it to try it. I think the plus one you can download block lists though which would be cool.

I'm just running a laptop with a Turion 64 x2 and 1gb ram and its smooth sailing for me... I didn't even notice a hiccup!

It would have been cooler if the "snow" accumulated on the bottom.

But, this is cool, nonetheless.

Not here.

Typical melt-on-the-ground Calgary Christmas.

Hey, oh mighty photon....

Can you do burning logs at the bottom and whiffs of smoke, ash and heat rising upwards for next year? That'll be cool!
