Where to buy Glasses in Calgary?
Well, i've hit that point in my life where I need to get glasses (again). Can anyone recommend a good place to get some nice frames in town? Something besides your regular Lenscrafters chain I suppose might be a good place to start....and then I can work myself down after the inevitable sticker shock.

If you want sticker shock go to the Brass Monacle downtown. Lots of really nice frames there but pricey.
They don't even do eye exams.

A place in Market Mall is where I found my frames....don't remember the name, but it's right across from HMV.

I'd reccomend Costco too. You gotta get the eye exam somewhere else... obviously. But my wife got her last pair there. They mail it out to you, and it took less than a week, and it was inexpensive.
If you're covered, Lensecrafters in Deerfoot had my glasses ready in less than an hour. So I guess it's depending on the situation.

Brass monocle is a great for unique frames, 2 of my pairs are from there.
(I tend to shop at the 17th ave location)
Actually I think on boxing day they have a massive sale on some frames, all orange tagged frames are 40% or something like that.

PM if you are interested and I can set something up where you come in, and i will do up a quick prescription. If your prescription is not too large and without much astigmatism the glasses can be ready in a day.
Honestly though, you will get it cheaper in the United States.

I certainly never had a good experience there. Once was it for me. I came in with my prescription, made a note to them to show them the prescription and tell them my eyes are different, one has quite a bit of astigmatism.
Came back, they made both the same!!! Then when I pointed out to them, the prescription for the right eye was wrong, and again showed them the prescription, they said that can't be right, and would not fill according to what my opthomogist had written. They phoned to verify, and then acted shocked when he told them the prescription was exactly as he had previously written down.

The last few times I've got glasses I don't think I've been happy with either the prescription or the lenses themselves, as things usually end up blurry after the few weeks of adjustment.
Hesla, tell me you're a good eye doctor!

Try 17th Ave Specs. I got my glasses there and I love them. They carrry more designer brands (Kliik, Gucci, Prada, etc.) and the prices aren't outrageous.
