Dream Concert
We were talking about the Foo early and a couple people mentioned some awesome lineups at the shows they went to. So it got me thinking about my dream show and I thought it would be cool to see what everyone else would want to see.
Here are the rules. Three bands. and you have to say why you are picking them. No, BECAUSE THEY ROCK! Give us a legit reason!
Edit:And in terms of dead or alive. Feel free to make a present day one, and a all time one

Does it have to be a concert that could conceivably happen in the present day? Or could I say something like "Pink Floyd circa 1979" and "The Beatles circa 1968" as valid answers?

1st Band: Led Zepp - John Bonham asphyxiated on his own vomit 3 years before I was born
2nd Band: Pink Floyd - Roger Waters quit the band 2 years before I was born.. I dont
find him overly talented except as a lyricist but a true Pink Floyd reunion would include him.
3rd Band: Rolling Stones - Might aswell include the other big band from that era..
3rd one could be interchanged with either Hendrix or the Beatles depending on availability..
Tickets to this concert would be $1000 each, plus you'd hafta join some fan club for $500 just to be able to purchase

Haha, I must have put in that edit as you were typing it!
Why not make it a present day one and all time

Queen - my favorite guitar player; Freddy made me smile (Jazz tour)
XTC - have not toured for years, because of Andy's stage fright (I would have loved a tour for Nonsuch)
Husker Du - unlikely that there will ever be a reunion, but were once the greatest band on the planet (Warehouse: Songs and Stories tour)

Opening Act: Tenacious D.
Main Show: AC/DC.
Encore: Tenacious D playing songs with AC/DC.
I have seen both of these bands live, AC/DC is my favorite band because they personify the spirit of Rock. Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll.
The D put on a great/hilarious show, but I think they would be awesome playing with the greats.

I could probably post mine
Present day:
Opener: Kings of Leon
Middle Ground: Tool
Main Show: Foo Fighters
All Time:
Opener: Nirvana
Middle Ground: Temporary
Main Show: Foo Fighters
Forgot my reasons.
Kings of Leon is a crazy good band that doesn't edit their sound much so they sound the exact same live.
Tool because I just saw them live and I'm not over how awesome it was
Foo Fighters for the obvious.
Nirvana because they are one of the most influential bands of my time and I would like to say I've seen them. Even if I was 6-8 during their prime.
Temporary because its a dream of mine to be on the same line up as the Foo
Foo Fighters cause there is noone better

Act 1: I'd like to see the Spice Girls (circa 1995) accompanied by GWAR with special guest vocalist Trent Reznor.
Act 2: Britney Spears (circa 2000) in a head to head mic battle with Nicole Whatsherhot from the cat Dolls, set to the Beatles' Yellow Submarine, and performed in a waist deep tub of astroglide.
Act 3: Rammstein takes the stage with their patented flamethrower while Nelly mixes in with Hot in Herrre...
That should about do it.

Alltime
Open with: The Lucy Show
Then: Marillion
Headline: New Model Army
I don't listen to much new music, so I will create an amalgam of three concerts I saw in town long ago. Just cause I really had a good time...
Open at The Republik with Weeping Tile
Head over to MRC for Spirit Of The West
End up at The Silver Dollar for The Tragically Hip*
Anybody else see them there? They played three shows I think nearly 20 years ago, I went to all three.

I tried coming up with some ideas, but Flylock's are too awesome. That is a concert I would love to see.

The original Woodstock. It's more than 3 bands, but it actually happened.
1970's Festival Express. Also more than 3 bands, and also actually happened. And it actually happened in Calgary. Seeing a lineup that included Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, Tom Rush, The Band, Buddy Guy, Mashmakan and Ian & Sylvia Tyson & the Great Speckled Bird ... in 1970, in MacMahon Stadium ... cool. And hardly anybody remembers it even happened. The cross-Canada train ride with this crew would have been a blast.

wasn't living in Calgary in this era, but saw all three of these bands, frequently, in small venues in MTL/EDM/WPG , great times
