These super clear audio files are called holophony (holophonic sound recordings) and are designed to be listened to with headphones for the best effect. They have been recorded with a dummy head that has two microphones, one in each ear. The shape of the head and ears are designed to be similar to a human head to most closely replicate real human hearing. It’s pretty incredible. Grab your headphones and have a listen. While the content itself isn’t that engaging, the sound effects will probably have you listening a second time.

Woah, that was weird. I took my headphone off at first because I thought someone was actually talking to me.

that is really cool. If they can start using this kind of sound style in movies and games it would be pretty incredible.

Wow, those were great. The whisper in the first one nearly killed me though.

Wow, that's amazing! I thought the last two were even better than the first one. The matchbox in particular is pretty crazy. When it went from behind my head to the front, I really felt like I should be seeing it.

wow, that really freaked me out! Am I the only one who tracked the matchbox sound with their eyes? Felt like I was trying to follow an invisible light.

The electric trimmer in the haircut one was actually unpleasant.

Very very cool!

That's awesome! I would so watch a movie at home with head phones if the sound was that good. Imagine a good scary movie with sound like that. Creepy.

That is cool... I actually found myself starting to tilt my head to the right when the barber was moving his electric clippers to cut the left side.

And after a couple of listens, I'm actually finding that you can experience sensations other than just sound, just by absorbing yourself in the scene enough. Weirdness...

I remember hearing about Holographic Sound being developed back in the mid 90's I wonder if this is an offshoot of that research.
