FEB 3 Superbowl XLII
New York Giants v New England Patriots
What is there to say, really... New England has a chip on their shoulder the size of the lunar lander. NYG have nothing to lose and everything to gain. This will be one MOFO of a game.
Though I really wanted #4 to grace teh field, it is just as well if NYG faces off against the seemingly unstoppable Patriots. A GB loss against NE would have been some kind of shame, but the NYG (as already stated) have nothing to lose. Sure they have 3 or so guys that have done their time in the NFL, sans rings, but who really cares?
This game comes down to the simple fact that people who love Tom Brady (me) want him to win again and again (especially while PM loses again and again); people who hate NE just want them to lose. Whatever the cost.
So, folks, all ~10 of you who give a crap aboot NFL, what are your predictions? Will it be the cut and dried 27-17 NE victory? That's what I figure. Actually, no.. I think this game will be about touchdowns. I'll go with 28-21. The spread is 14 points, but NYG has a bit of a heart. Mr Strahan sure wants his ring. Little Manning seems to want to eclipse his bro.
Of course, Mr. Brady is in the way. Tom Brady is one cool customer. That guy stays cool in the middle of a french heat wave. Put him in the sahara and he wont break a sweat.
Lets see what EM is made of. We already know that Tom Brady's 199th overall drafting makes him the biggest diamond ever found in the rough...
Damn. I hate the 2 week wait. Why. WHY? Me want football NOW!
ps, Godfather II is BY FAR the best of the three.

If it is anything like the final game of the season between these two teams it will be one hell of a game. The New York Football Giants are America's Team for the next 2 weeks.

The end is in sight for the Patriots and their run for redemption, and their goal for the undefeated season.
If they don't win it all then the 18-0 season means nothing, its a footnote, a funny joke on letterman and Colbert.
They're going to look at a Giants team that kept it close during the regular season, and the Pats are going to want to prove that a fluke as well.
In theory, the Giants should have no pressure on them, however there are some interesting story lines. Manning trying to surpass Manning, the coaching contraversy, the Giants defense against the Pats O.
It was interesting to see the adjustments last night, the Pats have been a throwing team all year, but when that wasn't working last night, they suddenly became a extremely physical running team.
Its an indoor game, the conditions are perfect though.
If the Giants can withstand the Patriots first drive, then this game is close. If the Pats get a major, this one is over in a hurry.
Pats 37 Giants 10

The Pats showed last week that they had a running game as well. I am, of course, picking them to run the table. I think it'll be interesting, but they'll pull away in the 2nd half for a 17 point victory.

I see NE is an early 12.5 point favorite. I think they comfortably cover, unless NYG can score a TD on special teams or defence.
Brady won't throw intereceptions again in warm weather. Bill gets two weeks to prepare for the Giants, and the aging defence gets two weeks to rest. NE proved they can run if they have to.
Can Manning keep up the strong play? The Superbowl is a new expereince for him, and the Pats have been there four times.

I disagree. Win or lose, this is a historic season for the Pats that will always be talked about. Many records were set. It's harder to go 16-0, than to win a Superbowl.

I think Belichick and that defense is going to give Eli a lot of problems. 2 weeks to prepare for the lesser Manning with lesser weapons? Ouch. That defense is full of veterans and will confuse and frustrate the offense (especially Eli).
Offensively, the Patriots are too dynamic and have too many options to be contained. The Chargers and Jaguars shut down Moss but the Pats win by using Welker, Maroney, Watson, Gaffney, etc... They win throwing the ball but when they need to they can run the ball effectively too.
The forumla for the Giants to win, IMO: Brady plays like he did against the Chargers (which will be aided by a good Giants pass rush), the Giants dominant special teams (including a TD) and the offense keeps it simple for Eli.
Im hoping for perfection, but if the Giants do manage to win, there is some consolation... Tiki Barber looks like a moron for running his mouth.
No winning the Superbowl by a field goal this year: Patriots 35 - Giants 17

Its a historic season, I agree on that, but if they lose the superbowl, it becomes a season with a huge asterik attached to it.
Won 18 straight, choked in the Superbowl. That alone is a huge motivator.
In my mind, the Pats are going into this one as the easy to cheer against black hats of the superbowl. A lot of people are going to be cheering against them, especially in the NFL community as their habit of running the score up on teams has to effect their popularity level.
On the other hand, the Giants are the plucky underdog road warriors with next to no pressure on them. Frankly even though a lot of people love the underdog and want them to win, I can't think of nobody that believes they can win. They're going to go into this game on a very loose footing.
Even though the Giants have an excellent pass rush, that Pats offensive line is probably one of the best that I've ever seen at giving Brady time in the pocket.
There's also no doubt in my mind that Brady comes out throwing in the dome, and he won't make the mistakes that he made against the Chargers.

Well the Patriots will no doubt have an advantage by some how stealing the Giants defensive signals in the teams week 17 match up.
Seriously though, I don't know how people can be expecting the Patriots to blow out a team that they had a tough enough time beating only a month ago at home? The Giants are not push overs and Eli is having a career year this post season. Not to mention the Giants have the best pass rush in the league.

Personally I feel ripped off by these playoffs. I would have loved of course to see my Cowboys in the Super Bowl. But otherwise I would have liked to see Peyton vrs Tom in the AFC championship game. Plus Favre in the Super Bowl.
Oh well I guess I can hope for the underdog but I have the feeling the bubble is about to burst for the Cinderella team and it will be a boring blowout.

The NFC Championship game was not disapointing in the least. That game will go down in history as one of the greatest games of all time. Mostly because of the weather and the close score along with going to overtime. Nobody that loves football and especially the NFL can tell me that game wasn't great to watch. I'm a fan of neither team and I was glued to my TV from start to finish.

The Giants were at home, and had a special teams TD. Take those away, and the 12.5 spread is realistic.

Yeah that game was in New York my mistake. Here is the NFL game center for that game. Has all the info.

As for the spread, I won't say it isn't unrealistic. But for the most part half or more of the spreads in the post season so far have been out to lunch.

I want the Pats to win just to shut up those damn dolphins. It makes me sick every time a team with an unbeaten record would lose, the 72 fins would celebrate their loss.
The Patriots will be able to shut that team up, and there is no way Belivader hold ceremonies like that for the pats.
Also, its nice to be living in this moment in time, ever since they picked up Moss and Welker and kept Gaffney I knew they could be good and I have watched every game on the way to history (since I knew my Broncos would suck this year)
Also, I like team running up the score - it is a profession and no offence, companies dont let up when they have a competitor on the run. Its different in college or minors etc blah blah blah, but this is professional sports - big difference.

The Giants have to play a close first quarter. If they get down, they will loose their emotion and get absolutely killed. They will play deep cover 2 prob, and allow Brady to pick em apart with screens and slants to Welker. They will pray for drops and INT's. I don't see it happening.
If they allow a big Pats play and loose any momentum and emotion, this will become a laugher. 45-13 Pats

I agree with everything here.
Only crappy thing is that the 72 Dolfins will still claim to be the only team to do it and not cheat. At least that thing happened in week one and not week 17.
And yeah, the whole celebration things is so weak. Celebrating defeat to remain unparalelled. Thats about as classy as refusing to play chess with someone because you beat them last time and want to remain "champ".
As for the score running, again, I agree. Why should one team be expected to stop playing their game? Is the other team going to stop? Why don't these opponents just forfeit if they want NE to stop trying to get points. Just call the game. Walk off the field. Don't expect your opponent to stop.

Its not like that 72 team didn't run up some pretty good scores
09/17/72 at Kansas City 20 - 10
24/72 Houston 34 - 13
01/72 at Minnesota 16 - 14
10/08/72 at New York Jets 27 - 17
10/15/72 San Diego 24 - 10
10/22/72 Buffalo 24 - 23
10/29/72 at Baltimore 23 - 0
11/05/72 at Buffalo 30 - 16
11/12/72 New England 52 - 0
11/19/72 New York Jets 28 - 24
11/27/72 St. Louis 31 - 10
12/03/72 at New England 37 - 21
12/10/72 at New York Giants 23 - 13
12/16/72 Baltimore 16 - 0
I mean look at the scores involving New England. This revenge plan has been going on for nigh 35 years.

Mercury Morris will. He's the biggest chump of them all. But with the backlash that Shula received for his comments several weeks ago, I think the Dolphins will keep their yaps shut. Should anyone say "They went undefeated, but they cheated" Belichick is the type of coach and the Pats are the type of team that could use that as enough motivation to go 19-0 next season too just to prove a point.

Score, 34-27 - Pats.
Kneel down with multiple headbutting at the end.
Headbutting causes Tom Brady to figure out that Giselle isnt that attractive and could easily find someone better.
