Anyone catch this show yet? Its on Wednesday nights on OLC.

Basically its dropping this guy by the name of Les Stroud off in the middle of nowhere for a week and him showing how to live off the land for that time. I think the real Survivor contestants could learn a lot from this guy....especially how to start a friggn fire.

I saw about 15 minutes of it at my sister's place and now I'm hooked. The last two episodes have been repeats though.

yup me too...really well done. Ive seen him in the desert, Georgia swamps, rain forest....the guy is great at making something out of nothing. He worries too much about killing animals for food though.

This started off with him doing two of these survival stints for Daily Planet on Discovery.

I enjoyed both of those immensely and watched one survivorman episode (he was dropped off and had to find his way to a highway). Unfortunately there are only so many times you can watch a guy start a fire with a fire-bow and heat up rocks before it gets repetitive.

Edit: Seeing Gerry's post, does he have any more tricks for the desert or the swamps, beyond what he's done in the Canadian bush?

he started a fire in the Georgia swamp with a dead Bic lighter....basically he took a kleenex and rolled it into a tube. Then he pulled lint off his cotton socks and made a wick on top of the kleenex roll....the flint left in the lighter was enuff to ignite the cotton lint and start the fire. He made it look easy....Id die first!
He also seems to know exactly which plants hold water and by simply cutting a branch and letting it drain into a container gets enough fresh water to survive.
In the Georgia swamp he made a lovely trap to catch turtles or catfish....hard to explain though.

The Georgia episode was pretty cool. Only other episode I also seen the one where he was in the desert. It was crazy when he ran into the rattlesnake. I wonder what snake tastes like. Kinda makes me want to go camping without using any man made objects except maybe a lighter just in case.
