HELP! How To Tie A Tie
Ok. Here's the thing. I know a half windsor, and I believe a full windsor, but I've been noticing recently on TV a lot of these people have absolutely flawless knots on their ties - wider at the top of the knot and skinny as hell at the bottom without a slant or anything. Almost like a clip on or something. How the heck do they do such symmetrical and perfect tie knots? There gotta be some fellow business people out there who can help me out with this.

Pratt knot FTW!
This is the one I use. You usually get a fairly symmetrical knot that's knot too big and knot too small. Plus, it's pretty easy to do.

Just practice. I can pull off a B+ pratt knot in my sleep now.

How does a skinny white kid only know how to tie an "oriental" knot?

You should match your knot to your collar style.
That said, different ties will favor different knots do to the cut of the tie and the texture of the silk.

I finally found a good use for my ties ... I use them to wipe the dip stick when I check the level of my motor oil.

Usually I tie a full windsor with a spread collar and a four in hand with a point collar. Sometimes I use a half windsor if the tie has really thick fabric.

In high school I went with the 4-in-hand because it is the easiest. Then I moved on to the Full-Windsor. But now I'm too tall for it (eats up a lot of tie) and rock the Pratt.
