Restaurants in Inglewood
Hey folks,
So I have a date on Saturday. Going to the zoo with my girlfriend, who I've been with for like 8 months. It's not really a date per se, but we're just going to the zoo. Anyway, we've sort of been in a rut lately, not a bad rut, just doing the same old things.
We want to grab a bite in Inglewood after. I just thought we would stroll down 9th Ave and find a place, but I really have no idea what is good around those parts. Does anyone have suggestions of a good place? Not expensive, like Capos. Just a nice, sort of unique, place to go.

Living in Inglewood, I might suggest Jaqueline Suzanne's. It's a bit pricey ($20/plate I think?) but a decent meal and more than that, a great atmosphere. Other than that, nothing really 'datey' that won't cost an arm and a leg. (Rouge comes to mind.)

Second the "Dragon Pearl" motion. I was just there on Saturday, still the best Chinese food in the city.

Village Cantina is hit and miss. You could try them. One of those sort-of Mexican cuisine places.
Capo is in Inglewood, but I've heard they're pricey and not necessarily worth the money. And I've heard the food is amazing from others.
Chicken On the Way is in Kensington... not really near Inglewood.
There are some interesting places in Bridgeland if you're willing to go the other direction too. None of them are coming to mind right now though!

Yeah, I used to live just upstairs from Jacqueline Suzanne's. Pretty good restaurant for a light lunch or dessert.
There's a diner on the corner just west of JS, doesn't look like much but does good cheap vietnamese noodle bowls. Also, Harley Davidson diner has good mac and cheese. Spolumbo's, of course, is one of the best places in the city for sandwiches.

In Inglewood?.... Rouge!!! It's a no-brainer in that neighbourhood. Sugo is also a sleeper, a few doors east of Recordland.

Unfortunately they choose not to do suppertime. Only open during the day.

George's pizza right off of 9th ave on 8th Street is really good. I haven't been there in a while but they had great food.

Try the Dean House, it's a modern menu served in an old-style house. This is about as Calgary as you can get.

I have to second the Sugo recommendation.
Excellent Italian cuisine. Angelo (co-owner and chef) has a different menu every day. Every morning he goes shopping in various markets around the city to get his fresh ingredients. The items on the menu are rarely the same as the previous visit. I love Sugo.

This thread and particular post remind me of an old joke....the punchline is "when you're done with the legs and thighs all you have left is a greasy bone"
