Anyone remember this place?
I saw a TV program about this tiny Island in the Pacific in the 80's. essentially is an Island made of bird schit(Phosphate) and every citizen (at that time 4000) got a percentage of the income from the Phosphate mining but don't work themselves, when i saw the show each citizen was making $150.000 a month, they all had "workers" to due their daily chores for very low wages. most drove around the little Island in Rolls or Ferrari's, some even had Tv's in their houses yet no TV station to get a signal.
Well guess what?, The Island is broke, the Russian mob's moved in to launder money threw their banking system, the place is a environmental wasteland. they even to some countries to court for compensation because a century of strip-mining by other countries depleted the bird schit.
Unreal, maybe they should have put a few bucks away for a rainy day
