Default Damaged Hair

I really hate my hair cause its severley damaged and dry. Does anyone know any good shampoo's/conditioners for men that repair damaged hair? I've tried a lot of different shampoos and nothing seems to work. I cant even style my hair in the morning because of split ends. My hair seems lifeless and dull. I want to spike it and it just refuses to take shape. It really annoys me and any info would be great.

Thanks for the help.

shave it off. that's what I'd do if I had this problem. it's the only way to fix split ends for good.

I keep my hair pretty short and so I don't have many problems... but ask your barber and see what they say. I am also sure someone here will give you their favorite brands.

On a completely unrelated note.... How many posts do you need before you can start your own thread? Or does this only apply to the main board?

Yeah I thought it was 50 before you could start your own thread. To the Op just buzz it and let it grow back.

I buy whatever's cheap and have a buzz cut. I'd recommend it. I go days without shampooing my hair.

We had some tea tree oil stuff in a dark green bottle. Forget the brand. I loved it at first. Until I rinsed, that is. All those suds flow down your body and into your various and sundry crevices leaving you with an all-over tingly feeling. There are parts of my body that do not need to feel minty.

Try using hand lotion in your hair instead of gel. I've been doing it 15 years and my hair is just fine. I use Lubriderm in the blue bottle. I'm not sure if it's water based, but it is odorless. A little on my face and a little in my hair.
I know it sounds pretty f'ed up, but try it before you knock it. I use very little, maybe a blob the size of a quarter or loonie. Rub it equally into my hair and that's it. Then again, my hairstyle is the sit flat, messy look.
Best thing about it is that after it dries, it still is clean looking instead of greasy or crusty. Seriously works great. I've converted quite a few people.

I guess not. I used to think you were a cool guy with your driving habits and what-not... now I am not sure!

Try shampooing less. Shampooing too much is damaging to your hair. If you usually shampoo everyday, cut back to every second or third day and it may help.

No joke, man. If your do is pretty involved, forget this. But for those of you that just want your hair to not be puffy or frizzy, or else some minor styling (my messy do), a little lotion when your hair is still wet, but almost dry.
No crust, no grease, hair doesn't get wrecked by touching it or changing your shirt.
Actually, it's surprising what I can get out of it. When my hair is shorter (less than 3"), I can (could, if I cared to) actually do quite a bit with it.

Hookers and Blow. If there is someone who knows about damaged hair, it's hookers!

You can also use a leave-in conditioner. Infusium makes one - probably the best seller, but Infusium is Proctor and Gamble so you could try the Herbal Essences one for a little cheaper. Also, Nice'N'Easy (also Proctor and Gamble) has now come out with a high performance conditioner on it's own - the same formula that goes into their hair color boxes.

Inecto has a leave-in conditioner that smells like coconuts. It might be hard to find because it's not a major brand, but it's inexpensive and seems to have a loyal following - of my customers anyway.

Finally, split ends cause that frizzy look which can be repaired with no frizz hair serum. Hands down, the best one on the market is Got2B but there are lots of alternatives.

It should be noted that split ends cannot be repaired. They do have to be cut off. But you're hair will grow faster and healthier once you've had that done. Then you can try any of the suggestions here to prevent it from happening again.
