Are the olympics in Canada or China? Those look like characters I see on half the girl's backpacks at school. I don't mean to sound racist, and my comments shouldn't imply anything...But honestly...Hong-couver really came through.

we had Heidi and Howdy here, so I won't criticize what Vancouver has. They're mostly for kids anyway, right? I think they'll be a hit with that set.

That's pretty much what I was thinking.
It was great hearing Rod Smith describe them on TSN. The way he was describing them, it was almost like they were contestants on a dating show.
"Quatchi is a young sasquatch that just loves hockey, while Miga is part killer whale, part kermode bear. You can catch him on the slopes as he just loves to snowboard."

I didn't think Nintendo was a major Olympic Games sponsor.
Looks like choices you could play any number of Wii games.
Makes Hidy and Howdy look like a god and goddess.

Great Simpsons reference!
As for the mascots, I think it's kinda cool how they went for a native influence. But they do look kinda silly- in drawing. In costume, they might be alright. But I don't like how quatchi is wearing a headband.
Also, Hidy and Howdy were decent mascots. Big bears wearing cowboy hats- good for souvenir photographs, etc.
Modified Bud Light Commercial: "Put a bear in a cowboy hat and you can sell just about anything!"

I stand corrected.
Now all he needs is to use an ipod, and dance around with the white headphones!

I can't get around part time whale, part time bear. Sounds like a really bad comic book character. Then again, the first time I heard about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (in an article in a newspaper sometime around '88) I thought that sounded idiotic as well. Shows what I know.

It's funny how all the stories in the Sun this morning were all about how "the kids will love them."
