In a semi-related note I watched a program the other night where one of the topics was the use of maggots to clean out infection(started up again in the 90's after a long period where modern drugs took replaced the practice). You can read up on it at Wikpedia as well. Not an insane medical practice even though it seems awfully weird!!!!

Not that weird. Maggots are supposed to eat only dead flesh. So in that sense, i can see it working. Mind you, I don't know how comfortable anyone would be with having a bunch of maggots crawling around their infection..

Maggots are very effective at eating away at dead tissue, and cleaning up big nasty wounds.

Pretty interesting read. Sorry to derail your thread but there are some funny articles on that site. This one caught my eye;

About the planned Namor movie...

Considering the exaggerated, dynamic poses and action shots that are the hallmark of modern big budget superhero flicks, it is highly probable you will spend roughly an hour and a half staring up at a giant green taint with the occasional slippage of wet side-testicle.
Hilarious!
