Default Couple of Wii game reviews

If you're looking for Christmas gift ideas and can't find Mario Galaxy:

Can't find Mario Galaxy? I went out looking for GH3 for the Wii yesterday. No luck but EVERYPLACE I went had plenty of copies of Mario Galaxy.

And Costco was the cheapest since it was the only place cheaper then $49.99.

Hmmm, I've owned it since it came out and never noticed.

Someone is saying that his in-line won't record stereo in the first place, another is trying to say that he just recorded the guitar part which would only be mono anyways (no idea if either of these are true). I'll have to put the game on tonite and see if I can tell a difference.

I'm still waiting for my GH3 wii version, but as soon as I'm getting it I'll be doing my own test regarding the stereo vs mono issue. I just don't trust the one source on the net that says it isn't.

In case you didnt know, today after 5pm superstore has 2 * gst off everything in store (except tabacco, lotto, etc).

I got Assasins Creed (360), Tiger Woods Golf, as well as a needed 4th Wiimote with some more Energizer 2500mA rechargable batteries.

Thanks for the tip.

Anyone know what their selection of DS, Wii, and PC games is like?

Wii had about 6*6*2 games approx.

DS probably 8*6 games.

I know they have PC games, although not sure of selection.

I know when I asked about Gears of War they said they dont carry it cause of "violence"

As an aside it was interesting to see the stats from a video from the latest E3 about DS and Wii. DS has captured like 25% of the gaming market. It and Wii have grabbed a whole market in both older gamers, casual gamers and women gamers. I think the success of Wii is going to be quickly emulated by XBOX and SONY or they risk losing more market share.

I'll throw out "The Godfather: Blackhand edition" as a cheap suggestion, although not super high rated I am having a blast with this game, its older and only $34.99 at EB (Best Buy wanted $50) but for $35.00 you can't go wrong... it's no Call of duty 2 or Resident Evil 4 but its good fun... a lot like GTA but with more purpose... I always seem to have something to do besides the story arch... its just fun and addictive.

The DS is absolutely huge in Japan apparently. It's by far the most popular of any of the consoles.

I recently got one and it's definitely worth it for people who grew up with the NES, SNES, and Genesis. It's a great feeling playing 2D versions of Mario, Mega Man, and Contra (and others) that are brand new with vibrant graphics. The games usually come in at $30-$35 as well making them much more reasonable than consoles (especially with game lengths dropping quickly).

Godfather: Blackhand Edition is a solid game. The motion controls make it worth picking up for anyone who like GTA-type games.

I second the Zack and Wiki review as well - it's got a dumb name and cartoonish graphics (which are actually very well done), but it's a great game. It's got an 87% at GameRankings.com which makes it almost a must-buy for any Wii owner.

My personal recommendation is MLB Power Pros. It has an 85% at Game Rankings which is very impressive for a game with zero hype, cartoonish graphics, and is an import (kinda). It may have cartoonish graphics, but it's the most realistic baseball game on any system (the gameplay is tons more realistic than MLB 2k7). The stat tracking is ridiculously deep and so is the player customization. Season mode is very deep as well and has some small quirks that make it very realistic (draft is in June and not the off-season, trades aren't instantaneous - you put out an offer and have to wait a few games for a reply, if you put someone in the minors they have to stay down for 10 days [similar to waiver rules]). If you liked the old school baseball games for NES and SNES like RBI baseball you'll love MLB Power Pros. The games are quick and fun to play, but it still maintains deep, realistic gameplay.

I saw Mercury Meltdown for Wii on sale at EB for $20 brand new. Went home and checked some reviews on it, and apparently it's a great game. Went back to grab it, just to find it gone. I've been looking for it since, to no avail. I'm saddened by this.

Mario Galaxy will have to fill that void for now. BTW, Galaxy is my favourite Mario games since Super Mario World.

I've seen it at Costco in Ottawa.
