Default Bell 6100 HD installation help

I just got a bell 6100 receiver and I'm trying to get the HD to work. I believe I have to be connected to both the 91 and 82 satellites to get the HD to work. For some reason mine only connects to the 91 and when I check the signal on the 82 it says 'wrong sat' even though the signal is there. I hooked up the cables to the switch exactly like the instructions say yet I still can't seem to get both the 82 and 91 working at the same time. Anybody else experience this problem? I'm really looking forward to watching hockey in hd and this is so frustrating.

Thanks.

Silly question, but you do have a dual LNB dish, correct?

Often what happens is you have the 82 LNB pointing at the 91 satellite or something like that so 91 is pointing at nothing.
The way to solve this is to only connect the 91 cable while searching for the satellite signal.

Edited to say, adjust your skew before proceeding and here's a Bell forum for most questions.

I think so, I assume the dish that came with the Bell HD package supports dual LNB.

I've tried using different switches and still no go. I can get the 91 satellite no problem with the signal over 90%. But for some reason I just can't get the 82 sat. I tried moving the dish which didn't help. I keep running the switch test but that didn't help either. I phoned Bell but of course they just suggest sending over a technician which will cost me $75. I don't really want to get a technician because I think it might just be something stupid I overlooked.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Yep. That's usually it.

Easy way around it, only hook up one LNB at a time. Aim it up, then add the other LNB. The "Y" adapter should have 82 and 91 markings on it. If it has 110 and 119, match up the lower numbers, and also the higher numbers.
