Personally, I have been a student of the Sankaku Karate Dojo out of the Mid-sun Community Centre in Midnapore since I was 13 years old.

The instruction in this club is second to none and I was very lucky to have found such a gem in a seemingly random location. I would recommend anyone to go check out the tournament at the Mid-Sun community centre on Nov 17th and see what the club is all about if you are interested in taking up some classes and you live in the area.

Unfortunately, since about 2004/05 I have been living in an area of the city which has made it very difficult for me to be active in my club at any meaningful level for them or for my own personal training. Also, there are no affiliated clubs that work with my Sensei in the area so I am in search of a new reputable club to continue my involvement in the martial arts.

I live in the NW very close to SAIT and am seeking out a reputable club to try a few classes with.

Weapons training isn't a necessity but it would be a bonus. I am also open to trying new styles - in particular Kung Fu or Capoeira for something a little more fluid, acrobatic and challenging.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As far as kung-fu goes I can only recommend my own club (I'm a member, not the instructor!). It is the Canadian Ving Tsun Academy. The instructor there is excellent and the class is a good group of people.

As far as it being challenging, I would say that it is very difficult! It is not acrobatic or anything in the slightest bit however. The focus is on economy of energy and the like...so maybe its not what you are looking for!
