Hawks-Ducks trade again

The Ducks are proud to announce the acquisition of all round forward Jochen Hecht from the Chicago Blackhawks. We are pleased to add a vet of his caliber who is under contract for the next couple years. He is not stellar in any one category but has consistent ratings across the board.

The total trade breaks down like this:

To the Ducks:
Jochen Hecht - 76OV
Steve McCarthy - 71OV
2.3 million

To the Hawks:
PJ Axelsson
Aaron Ward
4th 08
5th 08

This move was made because they Ducks have only been getting scoring from 1 line, getting Hecht allows us to shake things up and change our lines to try and get some good chemistry going.

PJ is a solid defensive player and will be missed on th 3rd line. Ward is a potential UFA but due to recent acquisitions of guys with decent DF we felt he was expendable. The Ducks have 8 CPHL D men and are looking to trade 1 of them for anybody looking for a depth player.

I like this deal for Anaheim.

The Hawks continue to look for the right fits on this team and improve the defense with Ward and Axelsson. Ward should stabilize our second unit and should prove himself worth while during Boucher's injury. Hecht was a loss but with Carter and Cheechoo at LW, he was expendable.
