Exclamation Church Cancels Teen Gun Giveaway

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma church canceled a controversial gun giveaway for teenagers at a weekend youth conference.

Windsor Hills Baptist had planned to give away a semiautomatic assault rifle until one of the event's organizers was unable to attend.

The church’s youth pastor, Bob Ross, said it’s a way of trying to encourage young people to attend the event. The church expected hundreds of teenagers from as far away as Canada.

“We have 21 hours of preaching and teaching throughout the week,” Ross said.

A video on the church Web site shows the shooting competition from last year’s conference. A gun giveaway was part of the event last year. This year, organizers included it in their marketing.

A semiautomatic assault rifle is a great gift for a Canadian Christian youth, untill they get to the boarder. They can kill all kinds of things up to that point....

As we all know, the reason Jesus said "turn the other cheek" was because it makes it easier to rest the butt of your gun on your shoulder.

The attendance figures are going to plummet now. They were only in it for the firearms.

If their Mom or Dad had a Canadian PAL they could still bring it into Canada. An American would have to maintain possession of it in the States and bring it to the border for the teen whenever he/her had the paperwork ready. The parent with the PAL would need to phone in the serial number of the rifle and wait for the paperwork to arrive in the mail(about a week). I imagine the Parent would have to pay GST on the rifle to get it across.

This story doesn't say the caliber of the rifle. I would guess it is just a 223 which is commonly used for gophers. With an $800.00 price tag I imagine they purchased a pretty nice model.

See, cancelling this is a good idea. Now the teens will have to go and get a job to pay for their own rifle, and we all know that after all the drugs and booze those paycheques will take forever to add up to an assault rifle.

Is that good or bad? Why does it matter that someone knows about Canadian gun laws?

I would think that knowledge like that is good.

Friday evening, Ross said the gun giveaway had been canceled. Pastor emeritus Jim Vineyard, who ran the event, injured his foot and wouldn’t be able to attend.

Ha ha ha.

That whole article is just hilarious. Even the headline.

When I got to the girl named "Vikki Goncharenko" I started to suspect the whole thing was a very well made joke.

For extra fun, make sure to watch the video.

It is (or was going to be) an AR15. I don't know what that means, but it looks like a "machine gun" from the movies.

The guy who was going to give the gun to the most pious trigger-finger pulled out because he had "bone spurs" in his feet.

Azure, it isn't really a joke, but it sure is funny.

AR-15 is an assault rifle. Predecessor to the M16. Looks about the same.

Heh.
