Big Fire on the south end of Lethbridge
Was just driving back from an inspection and noticed a absolutely huge plume of smoke in the mirror. So we turned to check it out and it looks like its by the airport...maybe Triple M Housing???, decided not to get too close cuz the traffic was crazy. All the fire trucks from surrounding communities were heading there past us. Hopefully everyone is ok, mikey_the_redneck is a drafter for Triple M if I remember correctly from the meetup at Scores for one of those ppv games.

Is it windy down there today? I was south of there yesterday. The wind was just howling.

Not being funny. I know, its windy in southern Alberta. But it was really windy yesterday. Wind and fire do not make a good combination when that area has not seen any real rain since Fathers Day.

I noticed that smoke on the way to class today. the smoke looks extremely dark. Since I hadn't heard anything, I asked a few ppl in class if they heard what it is, and no one knew yet. I'm sure I'll find out later tonight.

I saw it from the University and it looked really bad from there cause the wind was blowing the smoke everywhere. I heard the wind also blew the fire across the highway so hopefully the firefighters can get it contained if they haven't already.

Hey guys, man word gets around................It is Triple M Housing, because I work there. In fact I was the last guy out of the building. I ran back in to get my truck keys.............thought it was just another fire drill. I'll never forget yesterdays events, but you know the place is an old wood framed aircraft hangar, so it went up quick............burned cars in the parking lot etc....just an unbeleievable sight.....

Crazy, my in-laws manage the self-storage facility across the parking lot.
They were lucky that the fire never spread.

Well, it has been quite chaotic, but from what I hear ownership is going to rebuild, and temporary offices will be set up. There are 2 other hangars that are for production purposes only, and they are fine, but the office got burned to the ground, so it is a bit crippling at this point. I still can't believe it happened though, what an awesome sight. Damn wind.......
Hey if you guys send me your email address through PM, I can send you some sweeeet pictures of the fire and damage etc.

The fire spread to my grandparents place just east of the airport. My uncle and cousin had to get out and help fight the fire before it burnt down all the corrals. I wasn't there but from what they said it was getting pretty intense.
