Travel to the US - Ticket/Passport Issue!
A question for you US Travelers / Travel Agents.
One of the new ladys at work booked an airline ticket to the US for me but used my "Nick Name" as opposed to the LEGAL name on my Passport.
She called the travel agent and they said there was nothing they could do but put some kinda "Note" somewhere...
Whats my chances of getting on the plan?.. My "NickName" is basically a short form of my lega middle name..??e

I dont think it will be an issue, I had the same thing happen to me when I went to mexico. Do you have any ID that shows your nickname on it?

I travel all the time, my passport has "Ken0042" where as the plane ticket always just says "Ken." Never had anybody give it a second glance.
Might be an issue though if your name is "Douglas" and they use your nickname of "Updog."

You'll be fine.
Airport security can't read.

I had a friend book my ticket for me once and he absolutely butchered my last name... Didn't make any difference.. they changed it on my boarding pass when I checked in. This was a couple years ago though... and I was only flying to Vancouver.

Oh, don't worry. We are already ahead of you on that- we have an "anonymous tip" called in with your basic description. <evil laugh>
I'll leave the details of what we said you'd be smuggling and where as a "surprise" for you.

Well when I was a travel agent this came up on a few occasions, but you should be fine considering its just cross border, but they can deny you entry and depending on the customs agent you encounter they may just glance it over and let you through.
Last time I had a client with this issue, we ended up rebooking and paying a change fee since it was an international ticket.
Good luck

Are you referring to something like real name - Matthew and she booked it as Matt? If so, Im sure youre totally fine.
As long as you have your passport and you fill out the customs card accordingly, they dont care about stuff like that.

I actually believe u can get that change if u do it at the counter in the airport.
I've done that with WestJet where I missed the last letter of my last name ... but I checked in and then just went to the counter, showed them ID and they just changed it on their computers

Domestic flights its no big deal, its when you leave the country that name issues are important. We used to have our clients sign a form stating they confirmed the spelling on the ticket is the correct match to their passports just to avoid such problems.

A little while ago when on a WestJet flight (in July I think), they gave me a heads up that regulations are to have your boarding pass and legal name on your ID match. I was registered with my shortened name, Brad, and not Bradley...it should be OK, they just changed the boarding pass..

Whenever I book a ticket now, I always check and re-check my information after that.
