Default 07/08 NFL Playoff Thread

Playoffs start tomorrow so I thought i'd get this thread going!

Saturday, January 5:

Washington @ Seattle
Jacksonville @ Pittsburgh

Thoughts on the games?

I think the road teams will win both games.

IMO, Jacksonville is a better team then Pittsburgh and the Jags will use Taylor all day long. Both teams have good defenses so I expect a close game.
31-28 Jaguars.

Redskins have been one of the hottest teams in the league coming into the playoffs. Seattle has looked ordinary the last few weeks. Seattle has the advantage at QB with Hasselback going to the Pro Bowl, but Collins has been a surprising story. I think the Redskins pull off the upset.

27-24 Redskins.

I like the visitors as well. The Skins and Jags have just played better as of late.

Well Seattle at home and Seattle on the road are two totally differnt teams. Trendy thing is to pick the Skins on their 4 game winning streak. The Skins got to play the NFC North and the AFC East this year and haven't been West of the Central time zone. I think the travel will be an issue and the Seahawks at home win 20-6.

Jacksonville at Pittsburgh is a game that could go either way. But the two teams in my opinion are really close. Hence I think it might be a bit much for the Jaguars to go into Pittsburgh and win for a second time in the same season. What can I say every time the Jags have a chance to move forward and show the nation that they're serious about being a top team, they seem to fail to get it done. Steelers win 21-17 in a real smash mouth fight.

I can't see Todd Collins winning on the road in Seattle. The Redskins have played well as of late and Portis deciding to try again has helped but they will have to make at least one big throw in the game and I don't think Todd Collins is the guy to make that play. I think Seattle will win this game easily. Especially if they get a lead early on.

Similar to Washington I am not a fan of Jacksonville's QB on the road. Garrard hasn't thrown a lot of picks this year but that has more to do with the amount and type of passes he was asked to make. If Willie Parker were in the game I would choose Pittsburgh no doubt. I think it is a real toss up and will go with the experience and home field advantage of Pittsburgh.

I think the Bucs will get the best of the Gmen. Eli will struggle against that cover 2 blitz scheme.

I'll pick Jacksonville over the Steelers by 3. (The Jags obsolutely dominated the Steelers statistically in the last matchup, time of possesion was like 39 to 21) Plus no Willie Parker and lets face it, the Steelers have been allowing a lot of points lately.

Tampa Bay over the Giants by 1. The spread has moved to three. Must be heavy betting on the Bucs.

Washington over Seattle by 1. Just using a hunch. Which means more than likely I'm out to lunch.

Chargers over the Titans by 14. Titans have too many injuries.

As much issue as I have with Hasselbeck these days, SEA playing at home with the crowd, a defense playing well, and on top of that, almost being underdogs to the nation thanks to the Redskins run/Taylor thing talked about all week, I think SEA wins comfortably this week (and trounced in GB next).

Love for JAX to pull out another win against the overrated Steelers, but that's going to come down to the wire, either way.

I see all 4 home teams winning this weekend.

Was @ Sea: Seattle will be too tough at home, the pass rush will get after Collins and shake his confidence. Seattle will throw all day long with just enough running game to keep the Skins honest.

Jax @ Pit: Jacksonville has the best chance to win on the road. They looked great a few weeks ago, I think that Pittsburgh's defense steps up and makes Garrard beat them. (Which he certainly could) Garrard has no playoff experience, so he could falter.

NYG @ TB: The Giants are banged up om the OL, and Tampa will stifle Mr. Manning. Though the Giants are awesome on the road this season, so who knows? I think Tampa and Garcia find a way to pull it out.

Ten @ SD: Tennessee is not healthy going in, their best RB and WR are out Haynesworth/Young are not 100%. I think SD wins big.

I also thought my Saints would finish 11-5, so what do I know?

BOOM!

just like that the Skins score 2 quick TD's. Man there is NO way Seattle should be trailing this game. Unreal.

Redskins with a TD, Interception and TD in the 4th quarter. 14-13 Redskins in the 4th quarter! I really hope they win this game for Taylor.

WOW! Is all I can say....GO SKINS GO!!!

19/1 odds they make it to the Super Bowl....I threw down some cash on that because of the Taylor situation.

I just started watching NFL football this season. Lot of people I know seem to be Seahawk fans, what's the deal? Is it a proximity thing?

Seahawk fan buddy at work was pretty certain his team was going to take the Skins today...

Probably because they are the closest team to Calgary. I find in Canada fans are all over the map because they don't have any "home town" favorites.

Hawks were the favorites going in...but this is why I love football, games like this!

Hasslebeck starting his patented "its every ones fault but mine" pouting routine (note the shaking head, confused look, favouring supposed injuries, throwing the chinstrap off right away after plays) midway through the second quarter, mainly because he got hit hard a couple times is why....and thats a direct cause of the useless underthrown balls he's made since..most for incomplete passes, but the last, an INT.

Plain and simple, the guy has far too big an ego and is far too unreliable a QB for his expereince in big games, when he gets a bit of adversity. The fact that he needs time off from the coach so the coach doesn't yell at him too hard pretty much shows the attitude of this guy.

The Seahawks are my only NFL team (maybe the Chargers a distance second) so...I'll still take them to win today.
