OK, it's fine to have seperate thread about the vote being today, but let's not have a 3rd thread where we debate the issues.
My question for anybody who has voted today- do they give you 3 seperate ballots? Or is it all on one? I ask because I have no idea for school trustee, nor do I care as I don't have kids. I'd just rather not waste a vote and leave it up to those who this matters to.

Did we have to register or anything like that?

I haven't voted yet today, but if memory serves you place all votes on a single ballot. My school trustee for both boards won by acclamation, so I'm glad I don't have to not vote for them because of apathy/lack of information. Although it's probably not good that they won by default due to apathy.
Registration is not required, but ID is. Does anyone have any obscure ID they plan on using? I will have my Driver's License with me, but I think I'm going to use my Alberta Health card anyway. Does anyone plan on using a baptismal certificate, gun license, or any other oddball ID?

Nope, just show up with ID. You can also vote anywhere in your ward that you want.
Edit: here's the ward map link

I'm glad someone started this thread, good idea!
Just think, your one vote basically counts as five today if the voter turnout last time is any indication!

Are you in Ward 3? The reason I ask, is I feel the incumbent of this particular has done a great job in getting schools into these communities which has the highest level of children in the city. That is why I will be backing her.

I'm in ward 12. I'll probably just email one of my friends and ask who she's voting for; as she has 1.5 kids.
Too bad there aren't seperate ballots. I'd hate to risk my mayor/alderman vote getting tossed because I spoiled the school trustee part.

My face is a bum!

Yeah, can you leave the Alderman/Trustee part empty? I've been following the mayoral stuff, but nothing else.

I'm sure that if you just leave part of the ballot empty then your votes will still be counted for the other votes that you cast.

Thanks for the link to the Better Calgary survey. Really good to have that summary of the candidates and their stances.

I voted! I just went an hour ago. Walked in, went to the lady that had my last name, got my ballots and placed my "X".
My room-mate won't even vote! Says "it won't make a differnce, etc, etc.."
I say: If you don't VOTE, don't COMPLAIN!

Is there a good website that details the School Trustees?
I've done the research for my Mayor Vote and for my Ward 6 Alderman ... but where does one even find out about the Trustees?

You can get the ballot for each category...I just voted and if you don't want the trustee or alderman you could refuse them.

What I wasn't happy with is I went to the closest polling station to vote only for them to say I couldn't cote there and that I had to go to the one in "my" area. The ballots all end up in the same place, It is time Election gets with the 21st century and record voters with an electronic data base instead of this stupid paperbased system. Wasted my time and the people that were volunteering.

I would vote for schoolbarod trustee but I have no information whatsoever on the separate school board for ward 11, so i hope there is a separate ballot for mayor/alderman.

Where did you end up having to go?
If people were serious about increasing voter turnout, they should take steps to make voting easier. How many people work down town but live in a different ward? Why can't I vote during my lunch hour or coffee breaK?
Instead, I have to hustle my butt home after work and try to get to the nearest polling station before closing. Like Jolinar, I probably would have went to the wrong one too...
