Default Ripping Audio From a Movie

Hopefully some techy person can help me out with this.

So I have an .avi movie file and I want to just take a portion of the audio and save it as a .wav, .mp3, etc. Anyone know of a free program to allow me to this?

Windows Movie maker does it I'm sure. U just have to split the Audio from the video

If you want step by step instructions, I can put them up as well

Instructions would be great.

While I'm at it, anyone have tips on good programs for creating animated .gifs or otherwise creating a little animation to go with the audio? I tried to PM Reggie Dunlop but he doesn't accept messages.

I recently downloaded something to do the same thing for .FLV files, it may help you out. FLV Extractor. Also you can use MP3directcut to cut out the exact clip you want.

Just google them, I dont have the links anymore

1. In Movie Maker Import your movie (Should be a video option under import)

2. Drag and drop into the bottom section

3. Click Show Timeline (Should be just above where u just dropped ur movie)

4. On the Bottom left, you will see Video, Audio/Music, Title overlay, expand video ([+])

5. You will now see under video, transitions and audio, select the audio and drag it to Audio/Music

6. Delete the video part in the timeline

7. Then on the right side, under finish movie click save to computer. I don't remember if u are able to save it into MP3 file format, but I know u can into a .wma format, in which the conversion to .mp3 should not be hard at all with another program (Audacity)

Note: If you want a certain section of the movie, you are able to split the voice at any point that you want, in timeline mode, just move the green line to where you want it to split and click split where they show the video on the right side of the screen.

I'm not 100% sure how well this will work out for you because I'm not too sure how much the free sample of this program has. I have Adobe Premiere Pro myself and doing this is very easy.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multime...iere-Pro.shtml

When you import video into Adobe Premiere, the video and sound are automatically separated for easy editing. All you have to do is lock the sound to delete the video. When you're done, go to file and find Export Video. Once there, the menu that comes up allows you to choose what format you want your video and sound to be so all you need to do is scroll through the options and find what you need.

BTW. The sound mixing options on the program allow you to clean and play around with the sound levels.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys/gals.

Any tips on a good .gif or other animation program (free or otherwise) would still be appreciated.

As does VirtualDub, though it just rips a WAV then you have to convert it with some other program.

I've got a question that's a bit different but still on topic. Anyone know how to take just the audio from a DVD and put it onto the computer with some sort of free software? I looked around google a bit but couldn't find much...
