Default Patrick Stefan

I guess if you understand German (or have access to Babelfish ) you can read that Patrick Stefan just retired from his Swiss team and from hockey itself.

Patrick Stefan - #1 overall pick and Cpt. Jean Luc Picard head double.

And to think that this guy was a #1 overall pick less than 10 years ago and is now out of hockey completely.

English version courtesy of free translation .com

Berns Patrik Stefan must conclude career heavy blow for the SC Bern and its new foreigner Patrik Stefan: The 27-year-old Czech, who was pulled 1999 by the Atlanta Thrashers as a number of 1 the NHL-drift, must conclude its career because of chronic Hüftbeschwerden per immediately.

Struck down and with beaten countenance announced Stefan before the game between the SCB and Fribourg the bad message. "It is hard, already at 27 years of age stop must", said the 455-fold NHL-player, who came for Bern only three times to the use, and at the same time a hit obtained.

Stefan, that six years played for Atlanta and last season for the Dallas stars, slaved away at itself already for some time Hüftproblemen. In Bern, the striker newly wanted to launch its career after it the physicians in America in the spring had given green light and had declared it to be healthy.

Bern still has four foreigners with the Kanadiern Nathan Dempsey, Sébastien Bordeleau and Ramzi Abid as well as the Sweden Christian Berglund in spite of the loss of Stefan under contract.

Next time I call in sick to work I'm going to claim I've come down with a bad case of "Hüftbeschwerden"

I think that explains my mood swings lately... Re-occuring mild Hüftbeschwerden.

Stefan

I haven't seen an artical on TSN or anywhere. But on his player page they do have it listed that he retired from hockey on the 7th of October. Was he the worst #1 overall pick in the last 15 years? I'd say so.

he'd be in the running for worst ever (in the 'modern post 69 draft era)

what's the short list? Kluzak, Joly, Stefan, Daigle, Lawton?

Kluzak was mitigated slightly by injury and Daigle was maybe the biggest letdown based on hype, but he probably showed better than some of the others
