Default Burris and Dowboy both angry over MOP snub

don't know who else caught the article in todays herald P7 of the sports section i believe. burris feels angry and moron dowbiggin wrote an article praising the amazingness that is burris.

personally i think this is unfair but realistically the 3 (not two like the CFL does) Most Outstanding Player nominees really were: RB joe smith of the BC lions, Kerry Joseph of the Riders and Burris of the Stamps.

because the CFL is stupid and insist on having an eastern nominee they chose glenn who despite having ok stats has almost single handedly given TO 1st place in the east with his shotty play.

to me the dowbiggen article is so biased its not worth reading but i do think burris deserved at least consideration. but lets not forget he missed 3 games, sucked for the 1st 5 weeks of the season and joseph has been far more consistent and is on the verge of breaking the single season rush TD record for QBs.

the MOP award was going to be won by whoever was nominated from the West because the East sucks so bad so this is now pretty much guaranteed Josephs award. I think one could make a strong case to give it to Burris but to say he was robbed by having Joseph win is just stupid. what dowboy say something stupid!!

(and yes i am a rider fan)

Yeah, I think that Joseph was the most consistent QB in the league, which this year separates him from nearly every other QB. I don't think there's any question that Burris at his best is better than Joseph at his best. As far as who was more outstanding, it's really hard to say, league-wide, because I don't think there's been a player who's been completely dominant; most years have one or two players who are truly dominant through the year. This year, the choice is between athletes who were consistently good, or those who were occasionally great.

Glenn only has ok stats because he got to play HAM, MTL and TOR so much. Put the Bombers in the West, and they are 5th behind the Eskimos.

I think after a rocky start to the season, Burris had a great year. Unfortunately his injury near the end of the year, which caused him to miss a few games(especially if you include the game we rested him for his shoulder's sake after his return) probably cost him the title in a close race with Kerry Joseph.

To be honest, the fact he's even whining about this makes me question his character a little. He seems like a great guy, but a little immature and sensitive to criticism. He may have a point, but you dont publicly whine about it in the media. Instead, show the media how wrong they are by beating Kerry and the Riders in the WSF, like Vince Young did in the Rose Bowl to Reggie and the Trojans after Reggie Bush was named the Heisman winner over a somewhat dismayed-looking Young.

###. It's like in MLB where every team has to be represented in the allstar game. The CFL isnt big enough to warrant an East-West split for awards. Name the top 2-3 guys in the league and then let the voters decide.
