Its the same thing with beer. I could only assume that its if somone chucks a full beer can, that sucker is going to hurt like hell if it donks someone on the head 2 levels lower. At least with a plastic cup, if someone throws it, the majority of the weight will dispurse mid-throw. They don't call it the silver bullet for nothing!

They did the same thing for the Main Stage at the Bumbershoot Music Festival. Is the old liquid explosives security measure?
The way they did it at the Music festival was really stupid. As we were waiting in line to get into the main stage, they had several attendents shouting "Absolutely no beverage containers! Throw away all liquid containers." all the way down the line. So my buddy threw away his vodka and Squirt that we had concocted, I held on to mine trying to gain some sort of drunkeness before entering. However, at the front of the line the message changed to "Absolutely no beverage cotainers! Pour all beverages into cups!" My buddy was PISSED!

When I was an usher we really only cared if it was a can of beer, since it was something you could've brought in yourself, which isn't allowed.

A can of soda/beer can actually be used as a weapon. I've seen someone get knocked out by a blow from an empty can

Well, I suppose that makes sense. I was just wondering if there was something more to it because when I asked him what was dangerous about it he sort of rambled about something about walking around corners.
I guess not

Two reasons. A can is easier to throw than a plastic cup. And it's easier to keep an eye on outside alcohol if everyone is drinking from the same cups. I use to be an usher in the club and every once and a while I would have to get people to put it in a cup when they left their suites. But I don't recall ever doing it for a pop. People throwing things was pretty rare and outside alcohol was a much bigger concern.

Aren't there some arenas that serve beer in glass BOTTLES? Dallas comes to mind. Sounds much more dangerous than a can.

I was at Nassau Colliseum this past Spring, the guy next to me was drinking out of a plastic brown beer bottle. Looked like real glass but it was plastic.

In Tampa, they wouldn't give me a lid for my cup because someone might slice my throat with it. Apparently the terrorists are far more patient than the security in Florida is smart.
And I wish that was a joke...

Yeah, that's like giving cabin class airline passengers plastic cutlery, while first class passengers get steel.
What, you think terrorists are going to cheap out on flights before they try and fly it into a building????

Yeah, Dallas serves glass bottles. I guess we are just better behaved than Calgarians.
Frankly, I'm shocked the Stars serve beer in bottles. But they do.

I was at the Canucks game on Saturday. Half way through the 3rd period, security came up the nose bleeds looking for someone with beer cans. Apparently Someone in the 300s section threw a can and hit someone below.

I havent been to the rink in Dallas but I cant see any sporting arena/stadium serving glass bottles in todays day and age.
As for cans, stomp a can flat and youve got a pretty good weapon if you threw that from a higher level.

I just saw them on TV, so they must be the brown plastic bottles that others have mentioned.
