Default Digital Camera Help

Hey all I am in the market for a new digital camera. I want something that works good and looks good. Looking at Sony right now, 8.1 mp one's. What does CP say? Looking for suggestions. I don't know for sure what I want. i am going on a cruise in December and want a camera for it. Definitely want a point a shoot style.

Thanks all!!

I recently bought the Nikon L12 Coolpix. I'm very happy with it.

The new Canon G9 is going to give you near SLR quality photos, in something the size of an 35mm point and shoot. It's my next camera.

We just picked up the Canon A710IS and are really happy with it. Great camera for the price.

The Canon G9 does look pretty impressive. Probably one of the best bang-for-the-buck point-and-shoot cameras on the market.

You can't go wrong with the Panasonic Lumix series either as they come equipped with a Leica lens.

For lots of good in-depth reviews go here.

What kind of camera are you looking for? Point-and-shoot or something you can do more with? If you want a great camera with tons of features, the new Canon S5-IS would be the one I would recommend. Also, you really, really want to check out this website: www.dpreview.com They do the best, most in depth reviews of digital cameras out there.

In that range I think I'd stick with the Canon A series (like an A560 or something). But, like anything, you get what you pay for. If you want better quality, you might want to consider something slightly used.

Btw, camera stuff is way cheaper in the States (especially with currency parity), so if you're planning a trip down there, you could save yourself a nice chunk of change. Also, cameras are duty-free items, so when you bring it across the border all you'll have to pay is the GST.

Or throw out the box before you cross, how do they know where you bought it. I do that with clothes, take tags of and wear it, cant tell the difference!!

Ditto....great camera

The thing I love about it the most is how fast it takes the picture after you push the button

My previous camera, a 4.1 MP olympus, was much slower.
