Default Need Travel Advice - Moscow & Frankfurt

On my way back from Siberia I'm stopping in Moscow for a few days, does anybody know anything to see other than the usual answer (Red Square, St. Basal, Kremlin, lenin tomb).

Also on the way home I have a six hour layover in Frankfurt, I hate staying in airports. Is there anything in Frankfurt worth seeing for a couple hours. Keep in mind it would have to be easy to get to from the airport.

Thanks.

I found Frankfurt to be VERY VERY BORING!!! Really not much to see there. The only thing I can think of is this old church in the old city center (1 of the only building that wasn't bombed during the war). If you like modern architecture, there are lots of office towers and stuff, if that's your thing.

For Moscow, try to check out a Circus there, it was pretty cool/neat. Also, 1 of the coolest areas I went to was VDNkH (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VDNKh). It was like this showplace to the world of how awesome communism is and stuff, was pretty cool to walk around there. Also there are some fleamarkets that were cool to check out, got acouple of those Russia Wolf hats there (and a rabbit fur one).

The only other thing we did all the time was get a bunch of beers and vodka and drink in red square at night. Just don't get too hammered and wander around the alleys, some russians tried to mug us at gun point.

Definitely do a tour of the subway stations... just get a token and go around from stop-to-stop; really amazing architecture. Also some great architecture above ground, with all the neo-gothic soviet buildings. Honestly I didn't find Moscow very interesting. St Petersburg is a far more enjoyable city; I'd spend just a day in Moscow and then head up to St. Petersburg and spend the rest of your time there.

I would love to go to St. Petersburg but all I have time for is actually two days in Moscow, as that is how my flight work out (not my choice as the trip was for work)

I'm not sure about Moscow, but six hours in Frankurt is enough time to look around a bit. The subway system connects right to the airport, so its easy to get in and out of the city.

As for what to city, Frankfurt is the financial capital of Germany, so it has quite an interesting downtown from an architectual perspective. With perhaps the Deutsche Bank towers being the most impressive.

Like any European city it also has an impressive collection of churchs -- St. Pauls and St. Bartholeums benig the main two, IIRC. The Romer area is also quite impressive.

My girlfriend also thought the shopping was great, but I can't recall the name of the main shopping street for the life of me right now. Maybe someone else can help me out.

You won't have time to see it all obviously, so stick to what you're most interested in.

Ah yes, I should have mentioned the Moscow subway. Always wanted to see that. It was created as a propoganda piece to show off the rich Russian culture. Here's a video
