Default Doughboy Toasted

I looked around the site and noticed nobody has mentioned this yet. Doughbiggun's last day on the radio (fan 960) was yesterday. Some new guy from Edmonton will be on to spar with Kerr now.

Can't say it enough. GOOOOOOOD RIDDANCE.

Unfortunately he will still be on from time to time to fill in for absent staff.

Is anyone shedding a tear for Brother Bruce?

I always thought he was temporary anyways, his voice is too shrill and annoying for radio if you ask me. I was surprised to hear him on for as long as he was.

That and he doesn't play his devil's advocate character as hard in real person as he does in his column, IMO. I wonder why that was.

Heard the show yesterday, he was not "toasted" it was explained Bruce orginally started the show as a replacement for Joe. It was never planned to be a full time thing, he was only there to help out until Joe came back. .......

Bruce has decided not to do the show full time anymore, he will still be around (not sure doing what) and they introduced the new guy Dean "Boomer" . Forgot his last name.

Personally I thought Bruce was alright, he was able to get interesting people on the show. Not to mention Bruce is interesting, I may not agree with everything he said but he is interesting.

What I always found annoying with the Doughboy is that he loves to cut people off and make smarmy remarks, even when he's interviewing someone. Like it seems he's got this complex where he needs to upshow whoever he's talking with, whether it be a co host or someone he's interviewing. That and the guy always seems too smug, like he thinks he's smarter and more knowledgeable than anyone else.

If it's who I think it is... Dean "Boomer" Molberg. Guy is funny. I worked with him in Red Deer... Great addition.

Dowbiggen is a regular on the CP campfire spit, but if nothing else the guy does have a knack for stirring up a little controversy. I listened to his show once, and he did seem to have a knack for filling dead air.

The thing that turned me off INSTANTLY from listening was his fake german doctor impression. I couldn't believe how cheap it sounded, even for him.

Kinda off topic, but reading your post I realized why I really dislike Jenna on air. Her cadence and delivery really drive me up the wall.

I listened to the show as well. I never said he was fired. "toasted" has many implications including tired out, burnt, dead, or "even toasted tastes better." Take your pick. Hes not on the show anymore.

I thought Bruce was good at interviews, and was tolerable as long as he wasn't going off on one of his Bob Goodenow/NHLPA/NHL owners are satan/Bettman is destroying the game/CBA is useless rants.

So, in other words, when he wasn't talking hockey, he was fine.

New guy sounds good, think I'll like him more.

really? boomer tried to downplay this if true. he said he worked there last year...they talked about his red deer years, but never mentioned his roots

as for Dowbiggin he sort of implied that the radio station was going to allow him to work on 'bigger projects' that would allow it to be the 'best sports station in Western Canada' or something. the guy is of course a bit full of himself, but I'm guessing there are going to be occasionally "Bruce Dowbiggin investigates" type stories/programs on 960, which will involve him praising Goodenow and the ghost of Carl Brewer and trying to trade Iginla to Philly whilst moving the Flames to Portland

Dohboy is leaving Fan960, and McGeough is leaving the NHL.

This has been a good day.

I've met Dowbiggin a few times. As big a prick as he is on the air and in print, he's ten times worse in person. I wanted to kick him in the nuts... still do.

Good riddance. He thinks he's so funny with his lame ass jokes. I was listening today and that Boomer guy annoyed me to the point I shut of the radio.
