Default how does this guy repeatedly get out of jail?

Unreal. This guy needs to go away for life, he's obviously not interested or capable of rehabilitation.

This is why some states have tried to introduce "three strikes and you're out" laws. After his third crime he should have been locked up and the key tossed away.

Guys like that shouldn't be allowed to see the light of day. He has shown consistently he is dangerous to younger children. I just wish they would lock this guy up and throw the key away.

In the risk of coming across as ignorant, uncaring, etc etc...

I often think to myself when I hear about cases like this that bullets are cheaper than bars.

I read the part where it says he was sentenced to 12 years, and then 9 years later he was convicted again. What the ... was he doing out after 9 years?!

Hurray for bunny hug wearing judges!

And some have discovered this has made things even worse, since if a criminal knows this will be his 3rd strike they will go to almost any extreme to avoid getting caught.

As long as they don't to anything that warrants the death penalty, they may as well do whatever they can to avoid getting called in for the third strike. If you are already going away forever, what is a few more cars totalled in a high speed pursuit - it isn't like there is anything else they can do and you may just get away.

I think its high time we start to put fear of the criminal justice system into some of these criminals, enough of this rehab stuff. Great in practice and everyone deserves a second chance(and maybe even a third) but at some point you need to say enough is enough with these repeat offenders.

I agree, people can make mistakes and there are times when they key needs to be thrown away.

Isn't that what the "Dangerous offender" rule is about? If someone is proven to be a menace to society they can be held almost indefinitely?

http://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/prg/cor/tls/dod-en.asp

Quote:
The objective of protecting innocent Canadians from future harm can and will ensure in such cases that the offender will remain in prison indefinitely until that risk no longer exists. If the court finds an offender to be a dangerous offender, it shall impose a sentence of detention in a penitentiary for an indeterminate period.
